Lent
On Tuesdays in Lent (23 Feb, 2 March, 9 March, 16 March and 23 March), we are offering online Contemplative Prayer. Starting at 8pm, the sessions will last around 20 minutes and will be led by Didier, Mark, Andrew, Alan Hodgetts and Daphne Preece. We will be drawing on a range of different approaches from the Christian tradition. If you would like to participate then please do contact Mark and he will make sure you receive an invitation. Go on, give it a go!

Lent
Please do register - final plug - for the Diocese's Come and See initiative. Led by Bishop Steven, Come and See provides a wonderful opportunity to explore and deepen faith.
On Tuesday evenings in Lent, why not join the Contemplative Prayer Group (by Zoom)? Contemplative Prayer is for everyone and over the five weeks of Lent we are going to explore five different approaches: The Examen from the Jesuit tradition, Lectio Devina from the Benedictine tradition, The Jesus Prayer, which is central to the practice of Orthodox Spirituality, The Path of Descent which is widely used in the Centre for Action and Contemplation, and Touch Wood - prayer using Holding Crosses. We hope there is something for everyone.
The sessions will be short, around 20 minutes. Contemplative Prayer is a real gift to the church and its aim is straightforward: closer union with God.
If you would like to participate please email Revd Mark.

If you would like to join us please let Didier know by emailing him at didier@winslowbenefice.org.uk and he will send you the meeting details.

Women's World Day of Prayer
(Now officially just World Day of Prayer)
This year's service on 5 March at 2pm has been prepared by the people of Vanuatu.
Obviously this cannot be a live service, nor can we serve lunch! However, we will be holding the service via Zoom (ID and passcode to come later). If you are unable to access Zoom, please contact Judy, 715484, and we will send you a copy of the service.
You will then be able to join with us from the safety of your own home. This year, at a time of a global pandemic, it would seem even more important for the whole world to unite in prayer, so, please make a note of the date and join us.

A #FaithTalk to kick off Lent.

'We live at a time when there are too many voices coming at us from every direction about how to live life, find meaning and be a successful human being... Life (in Christ - my addition) is now the adventure of trying to live up to His voice each and every day and not live down to the old voices that make life like the pancakes that will be cooked tonight - fat and flat. We in the West can be bloated by ego chat and too much stuff and food. We end up feeling flat and stuck to the surface of existence.'
- Mark Oakley, Dean of Kings College Cambridge
'Evangelisation is always an overflow of something else - the disciple's journey to maturity in Christ, a journey not organised by the ambitious ego but the result of the prompting and drawing of the Spirit in us. In our considerations of how we are once again to make the Gospel of Christ compellingly attractive to men and women of our age, I hope we never lose sight of what makes it compelling to ourselves, to each one of us in our diverse ministries. I wish you joy in the promise of the vision of Christ's faces,'
- Archbishop Rowan Williams, former Archbishop of Canterbury

Verse for the week: John 3.30
I must decrease, that he might increase.
How might John the Baptist's words inform your view of Lent?
Verse for the year: Jeremiah 29.7
But seek first the welfare of the community into which I have sent you... And pray to the Lord on its behalf, for in its welfare, you will find your welfare.
We pray this week for our businesses, for their welfare in these times, and for the employment they provide.
