Dear Friend —

March is all but upon us!

I recall my teachers in grade school reminding us that “March comes in like a lion, and goes out like a lamb!” One can only hope. The weather, like so many aspects of our lives, has become more unpredictable and often more dangerous.  It’s incumbent upon all of us to be prepared.

At Dorchester Bay, we’re continuing our efforts to strengthen the organization both inside and out, making the changes and preparations necessary to serve the community today and into the future.

In this newsletter, you’ll read about one of Dorchester Bay’s most loyal and affable donor partners, Edmond James from TEK Building Services. Edmond and TEK are longtime supporters of our work, though when Edmond’s in the room, the work always seems lighter. Thank you, Edmond, for all you do for us and our community.

You’ll also read about Resident Services Coordinator Denise Roman, who is taking the reins as a co-chair of our IDEA Committee. We formed the committee (which works to build inclusion, diversity, equity and advocacy into our organization) back in 2018 and committee members have helped us create processes to see that the way we work is consistent with our values as an organization. We look forward to Denise’s energetic leadership.

The life-changing work of Linda Mello, Dorchester Bay’s outstanding Re-Entry Coordinator, was recently highlighted in an interview with NECAT, with whom we partner to find meaningful job skill training for returning citizens. Linda, along with her colleague Reverend Clovis Turner, have been making a real difference in peoples’ lives for many decades now. You can read the interview here.

And finally, continuing in the spirit of preparedness, Dorchester Bay is looking to bolster our award-winning small business support and economic development work. If you or anyone you know is interested in leading our work as the next Director of Economic Development, or has a background in small business lending, please navigate over to our careers page for job descriptions.

As always, thank you for your support and partnership.

Very truly yours,

Perry
