At COTS Youth we aim to be real in our faith, have fun, & meet each person where they are.
Every youth can belong.
Hi, <<First Name>>!

Rudy Update

Thank you to everyone who has been praying for Rudy and family.  His mom posted this late Tuesday night: Dr Kato (The Wizard) called and said he got it all out! They have to create a temporary stoma, which we knew, and then will be done. Also, he said Rudy did great. Whew.
Praise be to God!  Please keep up the prayers during his recovery.

Lent - Black History - Games

Who:   You and your friends in grades 6-8.

   When:  Friday, Feb 19, 7:00 - 8:00 pm

Why:   Jesus followers are called to Love God and Love Others as we Love Ourselves.  Sometimes loving others starts with knowing other people and their experiences.  And Lent - seems like an opportunity to grow.

What:   What's Lent all about?  Is it worth paying attention to?  Do I have to give up Cheetos?  And we'll continue expanding our knowledge of Black history as our youth tell us about more individuals and events.  And we'll hit up some games, too.  Games are fun.

Something to Think About...

Have you ever tried to go for a run in hard-pack snow or ice with regular running shoes?  It's okay if you haven't - I'll fill you in: it's exhausting.  Only part of each step you take actually moves you forward.  You're trying to move down the road, but you just can't do it the way you know you could.

Have mercy on me, God, according to your faithful love!
Wipe away my wrongdoings according to your great compassion!
--- Psalm 51:1 (CEB)

Moving through life when you're carrying guilt can be the same way.  Now this isn't about trying to make anyone feel guilty.  But it is about knowing how to be free from it, and about how great life is when we can zoom along as well as God intended for us to.  Lent (when we're prepping for Easter) is a great time to hit pause and talk with God about what's holding us back.  Sometimes it's guilt from our own choices.  The good news?  It doesn't have to stay that way.  Because of God's faithful love and great compassion, God offers us freedom and forgiveness through Jesus.  We can experience full life with every step propelling us forward. Big strides, no slipping.
