Friends,
With excitement, here are links related to our activity on the SDS Lumber Company sale. I'll write a longer message to go with the January 2021 minutes, to be sent shortly. I want to share something about how this movie came to be.
Here is our nine-minute no-budget film UPROOTED, Made by a volunteer high school student, it was shown March 14 on Zoom to an audience of 185+ and is now on YouTube.
Second, a link to the FWSR website to find information about the upcoming sale. I hope you will post a comment about the movie. We know that SDS management and many other are reading those comments. We need lots of comments, so do your part. https://friendsofthewhitesalmon.org/2021/02/pending-sds-land-sale/
Good health to you and to the river,
Pat Arnold

Call to Order
Pat Arnold called the meeting to order at 9:00 AM and introduced the guests in attendance.
Approval of Minutes On motion made, seconded, and carried, the board approved the November 12, 2020 minutes.
Financial Report The board reviewed the bank statement. On motion made, seconded, and carried, the Board authorized up to $250 for purchase of an additional copy of QuickBooks to be used to shift bookkeeping away from Pat.
Program on Cultural Resources Presenter David Powell, retired. Served as archaeologist on Yakama Nation staff for nearly 30 years. Cultural resources sustain and perpetuate a particular culture. Cultural resources are different from archaeological resources and historic resources, in that cultural resources include land and waterways. Protection for all of these resources is low, in practice. David and board member Bill Weiler also discussed the Timber, Fish, and Wildlife agreement, made in 1986 and intended to provide protection to cultural resources, fish, and wildlife as part of on-going timber harvest. It does not appear to have been well-implemented.
Committee Reports Actions taken since last meeting: Lower White Salmon Coalition: Pat A. provided an update. Fish Research: Pat A. and Pat C. briefed the group Klickitat Clean-up: David B. and Bill W. have been active in this effort. Board Handbook: Under development by K. Willsen. The removal of the Castle: Shea Aisha Hill comment: Adventure Scientist monitoring: John A. is continuing to pull samples and work on this.
