Sutton Mental Health Foundation
NEWS

Hello,

Spring is coming and as the days get longer and brighter we can start to cautiously look forward to the end of the current lockdown.

The government has recently published the ‘COVID-19 Response - Spring 2021’, setting out the roadmap out of the current lockdown for England. During this time we will continue to run our telephone support and online activities, and we plan to bring back one-to-one appointments at our Belmont Centre from 22nd March.  If all goes well, we hope to restart face-to-face support groups and run some training courses from mid April.

You can continue to call the Sutton Wellbeing Line and take part in the 12 weeks of free online weekly Wellbeing Activities, being run in partnership with Sutton Council: Coffee Mornings (Tuesdays 11.30 - 12.30); Art for Wellbeing (Mondays 6pm - 8pm) and Drama (Tuesdays 6.30pm - 7.30pm).

This month we have an online Housing Matters Q&A with Sutton CAB, plus our Signpost Sutton Session on Recovery, and we are starting two free four week support courses- one on Sleep and one on Irritable Bowel Syndrome.  We continue to offer Mindfulness, Yoga and our OCD support group online, and why not check out our new twice weekly Stretch class?

Booking as always is at smhf.org.uk/events

In the meantime, please keep safe and keep following the lockdown rules,

Ovie

Can you help?

We are looking for someone to join our Voyager magazine team and help with producing the quarterly issues.

The Voyager Magazine is written, compiled, and edited by service users. It provides a comprehensive and regularly updated directory of local mental health services as well as entertaining articles, opinion pieces, recipes, quizzes, art and poetry.

We are in need of a volunteer with excellent IT and, in particular, Publisher skills to layout each issue of the magazine and work with the editorial team.  If you think this could be you, or you would like more information, please contact Ovie on ovie.oboh@smhf.org.uk or leave a message on 020 8770 0172.

Following the government announcement on 22 February, a 4 part plan has been set in place to outline the next steps of coming out of lockdown in England. While this is welcome news it is important that we all continue to follow guidelines and work together to ensure this is a success.

A brief summary of the 4 stages is available on the Sutton Council website.
