ICDSS, SRA & SRCD Pre-Conference Event
Development of Refugee Children and Youth Living in Camps during COVID19

The Society for Research on Child Development (SRCD) in collaboration with the International Consortium of Developmental Science Societies (ICDSS) will present an online Preconference Event funded by Jacobs Foundation. The pre-conference event will focus on the topic “Development of Refugee Children and Youth Living in Camps during COVID19”. This event is designed to build the research capacity of early scholars from LMIC and provide opportunities for continued professional development working with a mentor.   The deadline has been extended until March 1, 2021.   Early scholars from Low and Middle-Income Countries are encouraged to apply for this great opportunity.
  • Become a part of this mentee-mentor research capacity building event.
  • Registration is free and awardees will receive a stipend for participating.
Please, access this link to apply.

Open Science Writing Week

The Early Researchers’ Union organizes an open science writing week targeted at young scholars and welcomes applications from interested early-career scholars. The open science writing week will consist of two parts. The first part will take place online from March 22nd until March 26th 2021. The second part will take place from August 23rd until August 25th 2021 and will be hosted by the Martin-Luther-Universität Halle-Wittenberg, Halle, Germany, either in a hybrid form (i.e., online and physically) or completely online, depending on the circumstances.
During the open science writing week, junior scholars will follow workshops on open science practices and work together on a preregistered scientific paper in collaboration with senior scholars.  Participants will be required to participate in both parts of the writing week and are expected to work on their projects in between (e.g., running analyses, writing a manuscript, meeting in subgroups). Senior scholars will provide datasets to work on in their subgroups. Spaces are limited to 16 participants across four subgroups. Confirmed topics and senior scholars include:
  • Prof. Moin Syed - Cultural identity/diversity in emerging adulthood
  • Profs. Odilia Laceulle & Marcel van Aken - Personality in adolescence
  • Prof. Sevgi Özdemir - Social development in childhood/early adolescence
  • Prof. Lucía Jiménez - Positive parenting in vulnerable families
If you are interested in participating, please send your CV, motivation letter, and two topic preferences to the ERU secretary Jessie Hillekens (Jessie.Hillekens@kuleuven.be) before February 24th. Please indicate in your motivation letter whether you already have experience with open science (note: this is not a requirement to be able to participate!). The registration fee for both parts combined is €50. In the case of financial hardship, please feel free to indicate this in your motivation letter so that the registration fee can be discussed. For more information on open science, please see https://osf.io/.
