The Prodigal Son

The third Sunday of the Great Lent is dedicated to the Parable of the Prodigal Son (Full story link below). The story is the embodiment of how our heavenly father has given us yet another chance to repent to him through the loving grace of our savior, Jesus Christ. The sequence of the Sunday names during Great Lent is not random. The Sunday of Expulsion of Adam and Eve precedes the Sunday of the Prodigal Son to pave the way for meaningful repentance. While reading the story, you may find yourself as the elder son or the younger son, Regardless of which one you think you are, do read the story as spiritually as possible to benefit from the true meaning and possibly change your perspective.

Therefore, I pray that our Heavenly Father opens your hearts and grants you healing from the wounds caused by numerous wrongdoings by you or towards you.

Dear Parishioners,

For the last two and half years, we have had the honor of having Archpriest Der Vahan Gosdanian as the pastor and spiritual leader of our St. Garabed Armenian Apostolic Church of Las Vegas. This coming Sunday, February 28, 2021, Der Vahan will be celebrating his last Sourp Badarak and soon after he will be leaving Las Vegas to join his family in California. We are grateful for everything he taught us. In his sermons he exhorted us to stand by our faith, to honor and respect each other, and most of all to trust God in our daily lives. Thank you for your service dear Der Vahan, thank you for your guidance, and thank you for your devotion to our community, May you and Yeretsgin Sossy enjoy your future plans. You will be missed.
