The Library wants to hear from you!  Yes, that includes teens and tweens! We are planning for the future of the library and need input from our community about what services you like. We've tried a lot of new things in the pandemic - book bundles, online storytimes and videos, and Zoom programs.  What should we keep doing?  What should we change? Fill out this survey and let us know!

As part of the Washington County Cooperative Library System, Cedar Mill and Bethany Libraries no longer charge for overdue materials, and all overdue fines on your account have been removed.

WCCLS shared this statement:
We have made this change because WCCLS libraries are for everyone – our libraries’ mission is to serve all residents of Washington County – equally, affordably and with easy access. Studies have shown (PDF) that overdue fines most severely impact communities of color and/or with lower incomes, and don’t significantly promote the timely return of library materials.

So, this change was an easy, logical, happy choice for our libraries. They unanimously recommended this change to the Washington County Board of Commissioners, who enthusiastically approved it in December, 2020.

If you have questions about this change, WCCLS has more information on this page.
