"You show me the path of life. In Your presence there is fullness of joy; in Your right hand are pleasures forevermore......" ~ Psalm 16:11

Think of how valuable the gift of life is. All of our experiences, all of our dreams and aspirations are tied to this one gift.

Do we accept the gift like a two year old; tearing the wrapping off to see what's being hidden? Or are we like the meticulous adult who saves the wrapping paper and carefully removes the tape and folds it before concentrating on what's in front of them?

I like to think we would fall somewhere in between. Looking forward to the joys life provides, and being just careful and aware enough that the gift must be cared for.

God provides life to the fullest; we are responsible to value the gift by caring for our health and the health and welfare of others as possible. The gift we've received needs to be cherished, nurtured and appreciated in all forms.

God bless you all,
Pastor Denise

Hymn Story - UMH 545
Story content compiled by Mark

Last week we sang the hymn “The Church’s One Foundation” by Samuel John Stone. This is one of the great hymns of the Christian faith. Stone wrote the hymn as much to explain the faith as he did to defend it. The former is readily apparent in the doctrine referenced from the Apostles’ Creed and Scripture verses such as Colossians 1:18, I Corinthians 3:11, and Ephesians 2:20.

However, the concept of defending the faith is a little less obvious and needs some historical context to understand. Observe the text in stanza 3; "Though with a scornful wonder we see her sore oppressed, by schisms rent asunder, by heresies distressed…" Did you ever wonder what that verse refers to?
