AKBMP is excited to share that we will be hosting our first spring season, March 15th - May 15th. It is time to start thinking about beluga monitoring again. Mark your calendars! During the process of getting our season up and running, know that we are closely monitoring the ever-changing status of the pandemic and the safety of our volunteers is the greatest priority. Same as our 2020 fall season, we will have monitoring requirements in place for your safety. More information to come.
New Volunteers:

We will be hosting a virtual volunteer orientation on Monday, March 8th @ 6:00-7:30 pm. Also, we listened to your feedback and we understand that people have different lifestyles and scheduling conflicts. With this, we will record the live volunteer orientation and anyone wanting to become a volunteer can watch the recording at their own convenience. If you are interested in the virtual or recorded orientation please click the button to signup.

Returning Volunteers:

Please feel free to signup for the virtual or recorded orientation if you want a refresher. We listened to your feedback from our volunteer survey. We deeply appreciate the positive comments and the helpful critiques and guidance you provided to make our monitoring program better. We have updates on the monitoring protocol, the datasheets, and the online data entry platform. Stay tuned for those updates in March and please feel free to reach out by email if you have any questions.

Additionally, the website will be updated in March to show you the results from our 2019 and 2020 monitoring seasons. We can't do it without you and we want to make sure you see the results of your hard work. Thank you for coming back for another season and please help us spread the word for recruiting new beluga citizen scientists!
For those that are returning, we look forward to catching up with you this spring, and for new volunteers, thanks for joining the team!
