THE #EFEST21 COUNTDOWN IS HERE!

Can you believe it? The celebration of all things engineering starts on Monday, February 22, 2021. That's right. The San Diego County Engineering Council (SDCEC), in conjunction with our local San Diego Engineering Society Chapters and STEM Organizations, will welcome in the 70th Annual Celebration of Engineers Week starting Monday, February 22. And all engineers, aspiring engineers, and anyone else interested are invited to join us. Did we mention that all events are virtual, and free? Make sure to let your colleagues and friends know and help us spread the word.  

The San Diego Engineers Week Festival 2021, also known as #EFEST21, will have events throughout the week of February 22 - 27.  Below you will find information about our On-Demand Speakers, Engineering Legends, and a Festival Calendar Line-Up that we have compiled to help guide you through all of the exciting offerings. In addition, you will find information about our sponsors, society promotional videos, and how to win prizes and more.

Congratulations Awardees! 
The highlight of Engineers Week is the Awards & Recognitions Ceremony. You will hear about the amazing engineers, educators, students and projects making a difference in the community. We will top off the ceremony with the keynote "Imagining Tomorrow" by Claude Jones. Please plan to join us on Monday, Feb 22 (6 pm) Award & Recognition Ceremony to help recognize the honorees!

And if you are a college or high school student, make sure you RSVP for the Wednesday, Feb 24 (5 PM)  "Student Night" too. Shazzy will be the keynote!

Engineering Role Models
Read our archive of Engineering Legends. You may find legends whose stories especially resonate with you and inspire you. Most of these legends are not in any history books. Reset your images of engineering pioneers by joining in our Engineering Legend Trivia game. We'll play the game each night to learn, have fun and win prizes too. Study up. Let us know if you have more names to add.

SAN DIEGO ENGINEERS WEEK FESTIVAL (Feb 22 - 27)

Celebrate Engineers Week With Us:
  • Feb 22 - Awards & Recognition Ceremony (6 pm) - Kickoff Engineers Week, hear about the amazing student and award winners making a difference in the community. Then top it off with keynote "Imagining Tomorrow". (For Professionals, College & High School students).
  • Feb 25 - SWE SHPE NSBE Networking (6 pm)  Open to all employee resource groups and affinity groups. Great way to meet the Engineering Society Chapters, members and volunteers who are advancing Women, Hispanics and Blacks in Engineering. (For professionals)
  • Feb 26 - Society & Speaker Reception (6 pm) Every celebration needs a little time to network, relax a little and have a little fun. This reception is for all local engineering society chapters, friends and colleagues. The bonus is the opportunity to meet the on-demand speakers, all of our sponsoring partners, and play the grand finally of the Engineering Legend Trivia & Raffle. (For professionals, college & high school)
Volunteer Role Model Training: Student & STEM Outreach Opportunities:
  • Feb 19 BE WiSE Application closes - Annual opportunity for 7th-8th grade girls to join the 2021 cohort of BE WiSE (Better Education for Women in Science and Engineering)
  • Feb 22 - Introduce A Girl to Engineering: WEareSTEM (4 pm) Middle & high school girls will discover transportation career paths in land, sea & air they never imagined existed. (Athena Racing)
  • Feb 24 - "Ask An Engineer" Student Mentoring (5 pm) College & High School students will have a chance to meet engineers in several disciplines (Civil, Biomedical, Mechanical, Software, Electrical, Environmental, Industrial) questions about classes, careers, and how they got there. They will have a chance to pick up a few networking and mentoring tips too.
  • Feb 25Chats With Change Makers (9 AM PST) middle school students will meet an electrical engineer, rocket scientist and astronaut whose job took her out of this world. The interview with Joan just happens to be one of our Engineering Legends. Isn't it time to introduce your students to a few more legends?
  • Feb 27 - STEM Saturday - (10 AM) K-6 students, (11 AM) grade 7 - 12 students (hosted by ASCE-YMF).
  • Feb 27 - Robotics Game Changers (3 PM) Grade 7 - 12 students, and all interested, are invited to design their own robots and learn more from FIRST Robotics Team Mechanical Advantage
  • Feb 28 - Logic Workshop (2 PM) Grade 3 - 8 students, will explore riddles and strategies for tackling tricky puzzles (hosted by the All Girls STEM Society)
  • Mar 1 - Engineer Girl Ambassadorship Application Deadline - Girls in grades 9 - 12
