Hello, you lovely lot!

In today's Inky Email: Come along to my online lecture, take a peek at Worlds of Wonder, geek out with some new pen and pencil finds and grab your free audiobook!

Online Lecture

Unbelievably, I’ve been asked to do the Annual Public Lecture at my University’s Entrepreneurship Week.

Suffice to say, my Imposter Syndrome is THROUGH THE ROOF!

Thanks to Covid (how often do we get to say that?!) the talk is online.
In a funny twist of fate this is actually pretty wonderful, because it means I can invite all of you!

If you’d like to hear about my journey since art school, why I started working in black and white, how I landed my book deal, the epic highs and gut wrenching lows of the past few years and my fairly non-business approach to business, this is the talk for you.

Worlds of Wonder

As the launch of the new book approaches, I’m getting BEYOND excited to share this with you!
I’ll do a flip through soon and share a preview of every page.

Here’s a few sneak peeks to keep you going in the meantime...

Pens & Pencils

Here’s what I’ve been swooning over recently:

  • Arteza Pencils. I love these triangular pencils. They are a little chunkier than the Staedtler Ergosoft pencils, but just as lovely to hold. Wax based and with bold, vibrant pigment, they make colouring a delight. Unlike some softer wax pencils, you can sharpen these to a crisp, sharp point for all those little details, but they are still buttery enough to smoosh and blend.

PRO TIP: You don’t need a special sharpener for triangular pencils, just use your normal one! I like this one

  • Arteza Glitter Gel Pens. These don’t have a super fine nib, but the ink is luscious and glittery and glides onto the paper like a dream!

  • Bambino Clay Crayons. This I did not expect. Crayons. Yes Crayons! Unlike wax crayons which are clunky, a bit unpredictable and tricky to wield, these clay crayons can be used like colouring pencils. You can sharpen them for details or use them to fill large areas of colour (a little baby oil on a blending stump will flatten out the colour nicely).

  • Castle Arts. I’ve been using their pencils since last year, but recently discovered they now do a Botanical Edition – a beautifully curated selection of 24 pencils for colouring florals – a perfect partner to World of Flowers!

Colouring for Mental Wellness at Work

As the pandemic rolls on, the mental health effects of Covid are lurking in the shadow of the virus itself, but are just as critical.

We’ve endured a year of anxiety, stress and isolation – so it is essential we care for our mental health as carefully as our physical.

That’s where colouring can help. With mental health resources already stretched, colouring is a simple practise that can be added to your Self Care toolkit.

If you care for a team of people and are looking for ways to support their mental health at this blooming awful time, I’ve shared a few things that might help on my blog today. From Bulk Buying colouring books, to zoom creativity lessons and free downloads.

I hope you’ve found a few little things to inspire and delight you here.

I’ll do one last pitch to join me for the lecture on Wednesday…!

My tactic is to try and flood the audience with fellow pen and pencil lovers.
You people are my kind of people :)

I’d love to see you all there!

Much love
