Happy Valentine’s Day!

I know, many of us haven’t seen the point in celebrating the New Year either, and now I come bothering you with Valentine’s Day? We might have had many plans for this year, and Valentine’s Day in lockdown 2021 was probably not the one.

It’s been a messy year behind us, and judging by my Facebook feed, many of us have lost someone.

Whether it’s a lover, a friend, a pet, or a parent, anyone’s final departure is an ultimate separation, one that cannot be compared to any ‘goodbye’ at a departure terminal of airports we’ve probably even forgotten how they look like.

Whenever someone I know leaves on such an unexpected one-way journey, it always reminds me of how temporary we all are. On how much love and support we skipped to share when it was maybe needed.

It makes me contemplate why can’t we be the humans who care when it’s not too late. Why cannot we be people with no regrets?

Whether you lost someone recently or not, and whether you have someone to hug today or not, wouldn’t it just be amazing to show we care and experience that someone cares too? Wouldn’t it be fantastic to just place that call, send that message, squeeze the hand of that person that never expected it? Without calculations, reciprocations, or lamentations about the fairness of the universe?

Nobody expects love. But caring is an easy step in rebuilding faith that we can all be better.
