Survey Says....

In January a short survey was emailed to members of the Kawartha Gourders, Peterborough Weavers and Spinners Guild and Kawartha Woodturners Guild seeking their input regarding the value of the Artisans Centre Peterborough. Thank you to everyone who took the time to respond to our questions. We appreciate your thoughts and ideas.

Over 70% of the respondents indicated the hands-on classes were important.
Over 50% were grateful for the use of the supplies/equipment/library, especially when starting out.
Other comments indicated they liked the ability to connect with other artisans and like-minded, creative people.  For many of the members their creations are a labour of love for themselves or gifts for family/friends, but a few respondents also appreciated the opportunity to sell their wares through ACP.  And others were grateful for the opportunity to volunteer with the organization.
A Volunteer Remembered
Diana Gregg was a long-time member of the Peterborough Weavers and Spinners Guild. Her love of fibre and her artistic skills expressed themselves in needle felting. Her quirky little creatures from the natural world always made us smile, whether it was fairies, elves or colourful mushrooms. She was a skilled teacher and was always ready to pass on her knowledge acquired over many years of experimentation.
Diana volunteered every Friday morning at ACP, meeting the public and letting them know the value of our working space. She passed away last June, with her memorial service being held in November. We will miss her smile, love of colour and gentle ways.

Creating Space

The Creating Space Community Arts Studio now shares space with the ACP.  Once it is safe to get together again they will be offering weekly Drop in sessions (Thursday afternoons from 3-6) as well as monthly Workshops (the second Saturday of each month from 1-4).

Keep your eyes on the ACP Calendar and the Creating Space Ptbo Facebook page for Covid-safe sessions.  New Dates/times should be available for early April provided Covid restrictions allow.

ACP Membership

Our classes are open to any adult member of the community...AND...all members of our founding guilds are entitled to take courses at the reduced member rate.  Individual memberships are available for $50/year (September to August) or $30/year for students.  This fee enables you to also be a vendor at the Spring/Fall Artisanity sales.

By belonging to the ACP you benefit from collaboration with members from the other participating guilds and may find techniques within other mediums or from other mediums that will enrich your own experience.

Qualified Woodturners can use the ACP Workshop, outside of scheduled class times, for a nominal fee.    Bring your own projects, tools provided.  Covid restrictions currently have this on hold.
