SWPCP Update

After the success of forum one in November, SWPCP will jointly host a second forum with Southern Grampians/Glenelg PCP and the Department of Families, Fairness and Housing to delve deeper into liveability. During February, staff have been busy meeting with leaders across the GSC to explore possible areas for further work and to ensure that the framework is locally relevant.

An invitation is extended to interested parties to attend the Great South Coast Rural & Regional Liveability Forum - Sharing The Evidence Base.

Thursday: March 11th,
10.00 AM to 12.00 Noon.
Online event.

In our shared approach to transforming Rural & Regional Liveability, we will build on the knowledge gained in forum one, and explore a suite of data sets to support the framework.
New participants welcome.

David Mcintyre, Evaluation and Consumer Engagement
During the second forum, SWPCP will take you on a brief tour of a detailed example of the draft design of the Housing and Utilities element of Regional and Rural Liveability.
Being the first example, the remaining 11 elements will be rolled out in coming months, based on Forum 2, March 2021 Feedback.

The draft discussion paper highlights both Critical and Supplementary Indicators and this tour will show you where and how the supporting data points and evidence will be displayed.  We will be relying on your expertise to provide feedback on all aspects of this work.

Do we have the right critical and supplementary indicators?
What might be more important and why?
Are you aware of other data or evidence that you can provide that will add to the overall picture?
Will the format of the information displayed be useful to you and your organisation in the future?

Your expertise, knowledge and opinions on this work are crucial to the overall package and in turn, the future liveability of our region.
Don’t miss your chance to feed into the evidence supporting this work at Forum 2, 11th March 2021.

The Achievement Program goes ‘offline’ to promote wellbeing
Rural and regional locations with limited internet access saw Corangamite Shire Mobile Child Care take a rather unique approach to tackle the Victorian Achievement Program.
Due to their rural locations, limited internet access was identified as a major barrier for
Achievement Program participation. Health Promoters Laura Stevenson (Health Promotion Officer, Terang and Mortlake Health Service) and Alexandra Bell (Health Promotion Team Leader, South West Healthcare) worked in partnership with the Achievement Program to devise a practical solution. It was decided that developing a completely paper-based version of the program was the best way forward. This would allow services to participate without an internet connection.
