"Streaming Forever," 8"x8" encaustic on birch panel

Moving Forward  . . .

Welcome to the February newsletter Studio Insiders! There are many new subscribers this month, so I'd like to reintroduce myself and tell you what to expect.

SOME BACKGROUND  . . .
I've been a professional artist for 20 years. First, as a mural artist when I was raising small children; and the past six years as a painter of original artwork. My passion is painting contemporary landscapes of the area where I live (VA/MD/DC) in encaustic mixed media. My artwork expresses the celebration of nature and the renewal of life and hope.

TIMELINESS - Subscribers to my newsletter are the first to view my latest work each month. The Virtual Art Exhibit is a slideshow presentation that contains work "fresh off the easel" sent to Insiders at the beginning of each month. I don't share new work on social media until two days later, giving you a chance to inquire about a painting before it goes public. You can find my studio in Purcellville in the beautiful state of Virginia, western Loudoun County.

CONSISTENCY - I consider myself a prolific artist who consistently creates new work each month in a variety of sizes to meet any budget.

INNOVATION - I'm always trying something new in my art and offerings.  For instance, I HAVE BIG NEWS! Giclée prints are now available on the website! Please contact me to inquire about your favorite painting printed as a high-quality giclee print.

VIP EVENTS - You can bet once it is safe, I will be opening the studio for VIP events and classes. Insiders are also invited to art gallery VIP events.

Thank you newcomers for joining, and a special "thanks" to those who have been with me from the start. I'm excited to move forward in creating new work that not only fills a space in your home, but brings joy to your life.

Hoping you have a bright and safe year!

Artist Talk Event . . .

Last month, I announced that I was giving Facebook Live a try as a way to present an "artist talk" centered around the monthly virtual exhibit. What a disaster! I had so many technical problems, I had to re-record the entire presentation. Ugh!

So, I'm moving forward and simplifying the process (I obviously require "simple" when it comes to technology!). The artist talks will be recorded and available on YouTube along with the VAE. I might even combine the two. You'll have to tune in and see next month!

Even though the production was less than perfect, I did receive great positive feedback. Viewers enjoyed hearing the backstory, inspiration, and techniques of the paintings featured in the exhibit.

Encaustic Arts Institute Museum
"Temperature's Rising"  will soon be installed in the Encaustic Arts Institute's museum, Museum of Encaustic Art,  located in Sante Fe, New Mexico. The Museum has the largest, most extensive, and best represented encaustic art collection in America. The organization reached out to me and asked for a piece that could live in their permanent collection. I'm so honored to have my work included in the only encaustic museum in the country.

 Giclée Prints Now Available

I'm excited to offer unframed giclee prints of my originial paintings using archival quality inks on high-quality Moab Entrada Bright White paper. Go to "Small Works and Prints" page on my website to view the current selection.

If you don't see your favorite listed, most of the original paintings can be reproduced into giclée prints. Contact the studio for inquiries regarding availability and size choices. Allow two weeks for delivery on special orders.

2020 COLLECTION, “Close to Home”

Did you miss December's Virtual Exhibit? This slideshow presentation is a collection of 30 paintings centered around landscapes of northern Virginia created in 2020.

It was very discouraging when travel plans were cancelled due to the pandemic— especially a trip to Italy I had planned to take with my daughter this past spring. However, on the upside, the travel restrictions gave me a stronger appreciation of the beauty found just outside my backdoor.  READ MORE . . .
