Hello, what's up, and welcome to the Lite + Brite newsletter.

Hey, have you noticed that it's hard to focus on anything these days? Because sometimes there's a global pandemic, and then there's a contentious election followed by an attempted coup followed by an inauguration followed by an impeachment trial, and then Austin is in a "state of disaster" and MoPac looks like a post-apocalyptic wasteland and people are huddled in their homes without heat because they can't drive anywhere safer because the roads aren't plowed, and a FUCKING BIRD JUST FLEW INTO MY WINDOW, and then we had to spend a week tracking every minute of Game Stop shares plus also listening to a lot of podcasts about Game Stop shares, and I guess there was a Super Bowl in there, and people keep losing their jobs, and throughout it all THE PANDEMIC IS STILL OCCURRING? I don't know; maybe that's just me.

In one piece of captivating news that's NOT dire and is in fact the opposite (i.e.: genuinely exciting), on March 1 we will be celebrating our 100th No Lights No Lycra. This is a huge milestone for us and we really hope you'll join us there. Details below.

The true purpose of this newsletter is supposed to be, like, 10% to promote fun events we're organizing, and 90% to let you know about other fun events happening in Austin. We're keeping close tabs on the state of the world, and when it does feel like there are a wealth of events that are safe to organize and attend, we will resume our listings. We hope that will be soon. In the meantime, one Austin event that looks very fun and Covid-safe is the Museum of Human Achievement's Unpaved Paradise Drive-In. Highly recommend.

If you're not already a newsletter subscriber, click here. Also, please support us by forwarding this email to your friends who enjoy things like listening to music and thinking about leaving the house (though not in 10 degree weather). Stay warm.

The 100th No Lights No Lycra

We started No Lights No Lycra ATX in February 2019, and we've been doing it pretty much every single Monday since then. On March 1, we'll be celebrating two years of No Lights No Lycra and our 100th edition of No Lights No Lycra, streaming on our Twitch channel. Whether you are a NLNL regular or have never tuned in before, we hope you'll pop in for NLNL100.

And, of course, we'll be streaming NLNL every Monday before and after #100, too. Tune in tonight or any other week at 8pm CT. (Assuming we haven't lost power, obviously.) We look forward to someday returning to in-person NLNLs, but in the meantime, we hope to see you on the internet.

You can listen to last week's full playlist here and see the tracklisting at the bottom of this email.

No Humans Allowed

Every Wednesday at 10pm CT, Brian DJs a weekly online radio show on the web's preeminent DIY urine-forward radio station, KPISS. The show is called No Humans Allowed and it's dedicated to music for robots, cyborgs, androids, mandroids, cylons, skinjobs, etc. Last week's theme was DEEPER COMPUTING which was full of bleeps and bloops, chiptune versions of pop songs, new wave weenies, Italian prog wizards, and a tune from local synth heroes Missions. You can now stream it from the KPISS archives. Here's the tracklist

Goblin Sound - My Phase ‘State 12/14’
Kate Bush - Deeper Understanding
Andras Vollenweider - Dancing with the Lion (Kurtis Vodka Edit)

Give us a listen every Monday from 8-9:30pm CT on Twitch.
