President’s Message

The Meet is on tonight!

Forecast temperature at 6pm is 34 degrees with cloud, going down to 31 degrees by 7.30pm.

Please be aware of the heat with your children, especially if they are younger.
Bring plenty of water and please make sure they drink it.  There will be extra shade put up to rest under between events.

Age groups younger than U9, who are not competing at the State Events, are under no obligation to attend if you think it will be too warm for them.

No barbeque, but drinks, zooper doopers and other small snacks will be available at the canteen.

We are in the process of updating our hot weather policy due the forecast at 4pm the day before, often not being accurate for our 6-7.30pm meet time.  Could you please with email me with your opinions on when you would like the call made by.  I understand 12pm on the day is possibly too late for people needing to know before school or work.  It is also too late for the organisation of canteen food and staff.  One option is to get it out by 7am on the Friday, based on the BOM forecast for temperature at 6pm.  The forecast for the metropolitan area is updated at 5.30am each day usually.

State Challenge and State Individual Championships

Nominations close for the State Challenge and State Individual Championships on Wednesday 24th February!
Enter through Results Hq by selecting the 3 bars on the top right, then Nominations. You will see a box saying 'begin nominations' where you can begin selecting events.
See more information below.

Check out this link to help you choose your events.

https://live.salaa.org.au/qualify

Just to summarise:

A is automatic qualification if you reach that time/height/distance
The number following is the number of athletes who have automatically qualified now.
If you reach the A, then you are in that event as long as you nominate for it.

Best is the best qualification in the State now.

Rank is the quota per event and the height/time/distance that the last quota qualifier is at now (ie the 24th person in a 24 quota event)
This means that if you are as good or better than the 24th rank, you are in at the moment.  It obviously changes as more people qualify.

You will see that some events have only  a few automatic qualifiers so far.

The quota is 8,12,16 or 24 depending on the event.

You just nominate your events, and SALAA will put you in State Challenge or State Individuals depending on your performance.

NEW LOG IN for Comp Hq
I have made a new log in:
littleharriers20+U6-U17@gmail.com
This one will allow you to see all age group events.

Please note this log in can only be used on mobile Comp Hq devices.  See the image of the Comp Hq app below.  This is the one we use at the Friday meets to see programmes and enter results.

(Results Hq is the one you use at home with your family account to follow the progress of your athlete and register for events.)

Vortex and Turbo Javelin

A little reminder that U8 and below should be throwing the vortex and U9-U10 should be throwing the turbo javelin as per the program.  This is a natural progression to get the athletes ready for the real javelin at U11 age.
See below for an example of the difference.

State Challenge

Date: Sunday 14th March
Nominations close Wednesday 24th February
U8 to U13

Entry fee $11.20 for the first 3 events, then $5.00 for an additional 4th or 5th event. Capped at $38.50.

The State Challenge is one of the main events on the Little Athletics SA Competition Calendar.
It is a great opportunity for athletes who have not quite qualified for event’s in the SIC’s to compete in a Championship styled competition at the SA Athletics Stadium.

This year, the qualifying process has changed for both competitions. Please view the Qualification Guide to find out more! To nominate for these competition’s, athletes must meet certain qualifying criteria and achieve a “quota” for the SIC’s. A quota is a fixed number of athletes that will be able to be entered into each event.

Athletes can nominate in up to five (5) events between the two competitions. Depending on their qualification status and quota positions, some of those events may be in the State Individuals and some may be in the State Challenge – they are guaranteed a place in each event they nominate for in one of the Competitions.

Eligibility requirements: Athletes must be registered with an affiliated Little Athletics SA Centre by no later than Tuesday 31st December 2020 and have competed in 20 events at their registered centre's meets to be eligible to participate in this State Competition.
