From the Office of Mayor T. Lynn Tompkins, Jr.
Cross Roads Community,

This afternoon, I participated in a winter weather briefing with Judge Andy Eads and other regional leaders in the Denton- County area.  We are facing unprecedented winter weather and all parties involved are actively working to ensure the safety of all citizens.  We are also in communication with the appropriate parties with regard to specific issues in Cross Roads.  ERCOT is ordering CoServ and other electrical providers to conduct rolling outages on a near hourly basis.  CoServ has no control over the timing of these outages and must decrease the power load within seconds of receiving notice from ERCOT.  Priority areas are currently able to maintain full power, which includes hospitals, dialysis centers, etc.  If you experience an outage that is greater than two hours, please contact both CoServ (contact@coserv.com) and the Town of Cross Roads at k.gilbert@crossroadstx.gov or via text to 940.218.4241.  Please provide your name, address, and phone number.  The Town is gathering information on outages to report to the regional representatives to ensure everyone is being cared for.  There are efforts underway to set up warming stations for residents who have had consistent power outage.  It is important that the Town is aware of who those residents are so we can ensure they get the services they need.

This weather is expected to continue the next few days compounding the issue is that there is an expect two to four more inches starting tomorrow.  Police Chief Edland is encouraging everyone to stay off the roads.  I contacted Mustang Water and was told that Texas-New Mexico Power has lost a generation station, dropping power to Mustang’s pumping stations until approximately Tuesday evening at 5:00 p.m.

One of the amazing things about living in a small community like Cross Roads is the ability for the residents to come together in times like this.  Please check in on your neighbors and reach out to the Town so we can assist as much as possible.  Please keep an eye on the Town’s Facebook page where we will post more information on warming stations, weather, outages and other advisories as they become available.
