7 funds and an event discussing a new website for your group

 

Funds

Community Facilities Programme

This scheme is for the physical improvement of land and community facilities. Grants are available at two levels:

  • small grants of under £25k
  • larger grants of up to £250k

Circular Economy Fund, Large Scale Grants

WRAP Cymru is now able to support the preparation of recycled materials for re-use, refurbishment and re-manufacturing activities in Wales. Small scale grants of £25k to £200k are available for this. Also, the organisation funds the use of recycled materials in products. Learn more on Wrap Cymru’s website.

LGBT+ Futures: National Emergencies Trust Fund

Non-profit groups, organisations or projects that work with Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans and + (LGBT+) people are welcome to apply. Funding is available to address the additional needs of LGBT+ people, communities, and organisations most adversely affected by the pandemic. Applications will be considered on a rolling basis until all the funding has been awarded. Learn more on Consortium’s website.

Warburton's Community Grants

Grants of up to £400 are available to solve significant social issues. Charitable organisations can apply to fund activities which improve health, places or skills for families. Learn more on the Warburton Charity’s website.

Healthy Heart Grants

Grants of up to £10k are available to fund community projects across the UK that focus on heart health and promote healthier, happier and longer lives. Learn more on the Heart Research website.

The Women Thrive Fund

The Women Thrive Fund is distributing grants of up to £40k to specialist women’s organisations across the UK. The organisations should be working to enable women and girls to improve their mental health and wellbeing, and/or improve their financial resilience. Learn more on ROSA’s website.

Update: the Kickstart Grant Scheme

The UK government has removed the 30-job threshold from Kickstart scheme. The scheme provides funding to create new job placements for 16 to 24 year olds on Universal Credit who are at risk of long-term unemployment. Apply for a Kickstart Scheme grant.

Charity told to pay more than £10k in damages due to maternity discrimination

An employment tribunal found The Salvation Army did not offer a position to the claimant either because of pregnancy or because she was about to go on maternity leave. Read more on the Third Sector’s website.

 

Training and events

Opportunities and training for community volunteers

Dates: various from 17/02/21 to 31/03/21
In partnership with us and others, Rhondda Cynon Taf County Borough Council is providing tens of opportunities and training sessions for volunteers. They’re a great way to upskill your organisation and support your community further. Topics range from mental health support for volunteers to giving advice. Mental health volunteer training

Dates: various from 23/02/21 to 31/03/21
Thanks to the Welsh Government Recovery Fund, 10 organisations are providing mental health training for volunteers. There are 27 subjects from anxiety to telephone befriending training, and you can book via the details on the mental health course timetable. You can also see an overview of the organisations providing mental health training here.

Date: 1.30pm 10/03/21.
Booking deadline: 09/03/21.

DBS webinar

Date: 2/03/21

The course is for individuals with a designated safeguarding responsibility. It explains:

  • what the role entails
  • the responsibilities
  • what is required for legal compliance

Meet the Funder: People’s Postcode Lottery

In partnership with WCVA, People’s Postcode Lottery invites you to their “How to Apply for Funding” workshop. There, they will unveil their new Community Programme Trust structure and funding process for 2021.

There are big changes to how the Postcode Trusts will operate in 2021, with key changes about eligibility. This will be a key session for groups looking for funding from the People’s Postcode Lottery supported trusts. Learn more on the Eventbrite page for the Meet the Funder event.

How voluntary organisations can play a role in COVID-19 communications

Win up to £2k by completing NCVO’s monthly survey

Deadline: 22/02/21
The NCVO wants to gather evidence of the pandemic’s affect on charities, community groups and social enterprises. Filling in the survey about the pandemic’s affect on volunteering enters you into a monthly prize draw for £200. At the end of the project, there will be a prize draw for £2k. To learn more about the experience of shielding, we’ve commissioned the Bevan Foundation to speak to people in Rhondda Cynon Taf who:

  • have been advised to shield
  • are self-shielding
  • are supporting someone who is shielding
