The Skurnik Series

Another first from The Wine Spot!

We’re excited to announce the upcoming Skurnik Tasting Series “A Guided Tour” with the folks that bring these wines to the USA. This is a four tasting series including wines from  Italy, Portugal/Spain, France and Germany/Austria. We will be joined by the Skurnik brand managers that travel to the wineries, taste the wines with the winemakers and select them for the US market.

This is a rare occasion to get the behind the scenes “lowdown” on some fantastic wines. If you follow Skurnik wines, this is not to be missed. If you like great wines from Europe, join us. If you follow Kermit Lynch, Jenny & Francois, Rosenthal and other specialized suppliers, check this out! Cost = FREE, just grab some of the wine and join us!

Tastings are from 6p—7p on the following dates:

March 12th -Mark Fornatale, Italy
March 26th -Max Working (Trabajando), Spain/Portugal

Adam's Pick Of The Week

Cœur Clementine
Cotes De Provence Rosé
Cinsault, Grenache, Tibouren, Mourvèdre
Provence, France

It’s no secret that Susan and I love our Rosé wines and it’s no secret we’re all waiting anxiously for any sign of Spring! For those reasons I’m indulging in this refreshing Rosé wine from Provence France. It’s light and has just the right balance of fruit and minerality to quench the thirst and induce visions of sunshine and warm summer breezes. I’m going keep drinking this until the visions become reality! Join me? I share. -Adam

Perfect for a cold snowy day. Scrumptious berry fruit with biting acidity and super dark tannin. Food required to ride this ride. -Elan

Sarah's Pick Of The Week

Meinklang
100% Blaufränkisch
Vienna, Austria

Just really craving a Blaufränkisch, but also excited to have more Meinklang wines back in the store! -Sarah

Winemaker's Notes: Taut, punchy and no-frills, this drink-loving wine is unmistakably dedicated to the credo of living reproduction of its origins. With playful roughness and irrefutable veracity, this Blaufränkisch embodies puristic and exuberant wine enjoyment. Period.

Shelley's Pick Of The Week

Schramsberg
Blanc De Noir
81% Pinot Noir, 19% Chardonnay
North Coast, California

Shelley says this is really, really good juice!
Winemaker's Notes: The nose is concentrated with tangerine, mandarin orange, apricot and baked peach. These fruitful aromas are enhanced by layers of maple candy, vanilla cake, orange creamsicle and ginger. This sparkling wine exhibits a creamy entry and offers flavors of stone fruit, graham cracker and roasted pineapple, with a compelling finish of dried orange peel, baking spice and butterscotch.
