You are one of our valued guests at Dreamland Safari Tours. Thanks for being along for the adventure.

We hope you had a wonderful Presidents'/Valentine's Day Weekend and were able to get outside. We saw lots of visitors in Kanab this past weekend, as well as a bit of wet weather - which had us keeping a close eye on road conditions in the desert backcountry.

With all the recent moisture, we expect a beautiful and flowering spring here in the desert. Speaking of spring: as spring break season is just around the corner - schools are starting spring break as early as February 27 - which marks the official beginning of our busy season.  Make sure to book your desert adventure with us early: during high season we are typically sold out weeks in advance.
In the meantime... here's what you'll find in this edition of the Dreamland Post:

  • Welcome to the Kaibab National Forest.  Our newest commercial use permit adds some enticing new tour destinations.
  • Dreamland's Gear Rental Program is premiering this spring, and will bring you top-of-the-line, guide-approved brands.
  • Meet Misha Regouski: Misha is the recipient of our 2021 Women's Adventure Award.
A small glimpse into our many amazing adventures.  Which one is calling your name?

Welcome to Dreamland's newest guiding destination

Remember this breathtaking cover shot from our August newsletter?
We're now authorized to guide you to this fantastic spot, which rests within the boundaries of the Kaibab National Forest.

You'll find this airy perch and multiple other unique viewpoints of the Colorado River on our one-of-a-kind, new-and-improved Marble Canyon Tour.  Marble Canyon is the mighty Colorado River's entryway into the Grand Canyon - and a wonderful, off-the-beaten path adventure with easy-to-moderate hiking, stunning viewpoints, and native American history. If you are a Grand Canyon pro who has been to the main South and North Rims, and maybe even spent an overnight at iconic Toroweap.... you'll want to add Marble Canyon to your bucket list, too.

Premiering this spring: The Dreamland Gear Rental Program
Great footwear with sticky rubber soles is your ticket to safe off-trail explorations in the desert.  We at Dreamland love LOWA trail shoes, and will soon be offering rentals!

Have you ever seen someone walk confidently across a steep slab of sandstone while you felt like you were barely clinging on? That's a prime example of why footwear matters. In the world of outdoor adventure, gear can make the difference between having a fantastic time or turning any hike into an involuntary sufferfest.

Here at Dreamland, our business is to guide our guests - you! - safely on all the amazing adventures in our backyard. The terrain that we encounter is often demanding, particularly if you think about our more hiking-intensive tours such as the Amazing Sandstone Teepees, the Grand Staircase Hiker's Dream Tour, or our multi-day Buckskin Gulch Backpack.  That's why it is our privilege to partner with some of the best gear brands in the outdoor industry, and why we're excited about our soon-to-be-launched gear rental program.

Starting this spring we'll be able to offer you something more tangible than advice: you'll be able to try out some of the best trail shoes on the market and rent hiking boots (and more) right here at Dreamland.

  • LOWA for top-notch footwear
  • LEKI for state-of-the-art trekking poles
  • Kelty for overnight gear
  • Nite Ize for outdoor lighting and organization
We'll of course let you know once the gear rental program is up and running.  In the meantime, keep an eye open for a new gear column on our blog which will launch within the next month. On there, you'll soon find pro-tips addressing questions such as why GoreTex is the wrong choice for hiking Buckskin Gulch, or when (not) to use trekking poles. Stay tuned!

Meet Misha Regouski, the recipient of Dreamland's Womens 2021 Adventure Award

When you meet Misha what immediately stands out about her is her unbridled enthusiasm coupled with outstanding intellectual ability, as she casually mentions subjects like molecular genetics or animal science and agriculture. Misha naturally and gracefully connects her passion for science with her deep love for animals.

Following her natural curiosity and inquisitiveness, Misha choose a path in research which enables her to entertain big picture ideas and solve interesting questions.  She is currently managing two research labs while working on her PhD dairy in the veterinarian science program at Utah State University in Logan. One of Misha’s passions is to get women and girls interested in science. To that end, her labs often host students from 5th grade up to college level.

Misha was nominated for the IWD Adventure Award by her mom, who said the following: “Misha makes me so proud to be a women, she inspires me to learn more and have confidence in myself and the knowledge I have. I am certain that many young females that see her working in action will have aspirations to be like her, for that and so much more I am forever proud to be her mother! She is a true example of hard work and dedication, but what makes her different is the integrity she has with everything she does.”

We can’t wait to meet Misha (as well as her lovely mom!) in person next month on her journey to Kanab. If you'd like to join us and Misha for our full-day Women's Adventure Hike on March 8, you can sign up here - there are only two spots remaining!
