Working together for a healthy,
connected catchment.
Dear friends,
Help stop destruction and wildlife displacement
in nature reserves.

Submissions due by midnight this Sunday 28th February

Reject the draft Brisane Off-Road Cycling StrategyBrisbane's nature reserves need your support so that they remain protected for wildlife, biodiversity and for the community to enjoy now and into the future.

Thanks to everyone who has been standing up for Brisbane's reserves.

Ensure you have your say on the BCC Draft Brisbane Off-Road Cycling Strategy. It's on the wrong track!

Please help protect your local environment by:

1) Signing the petition
(you will be sent a confirmation link afterwards that you must click to make it valid)

and

2) Making a submission to council by 28th February 2021. Need help? Just reply to this email and let us know.

Concerns about the draft strategy, include:

  • No proof of assessing increased environmental impacts of off-road cycling
  • Erosion assessment or core habitat mapping has not been undertaken
  • No reserves have been marked as prohibited
  • Does not commit to eliminate illegal and damaging off-road track construction
  • Fails to provide increased enforcement for illegal uses
  • It does not protect the primary purpose of conservation reserves and other vital green space assets.

We will be heading to the B4C-owned Mt Elliott property with the brilliant Guy Cooper of World As I Am.

An interactive workshop and a great opportunity to see outcomes of previous revegetation works and how this has impacted this environment. Works include the removal of Lantana, most of which will be manually removed.

We will meet at the parking area at the end of Mt Elliott Rd. From there you will be shuttled, as only 4WD vehicles can access the site. Time: 8.15am at carpark at end of Mt Elliott Rd. Works begin at 8:30am.

The afternoon will be spent exploring the beautiful nature refuge property, before relaxing at the camp site for those that decide to stay for the weekend, or part thereof.

Lunch is provided for all volunteers who join for the day. Come for the day or the weekend. Dinner, breakfast and accommodation also provided.  If you want to be a part of it let us know asap via b4c@bulimbacreek.org.au and we can discuss ride sharing options.
