eNews Update
February 24, 2021
We look forward to this Sunday in worship, and our congregational meeting to discuss the current information concerning our building on the property.  The building committee has been hard at work developing a strategy to continue moving forward with building.  Please look at the presentation included in this newsletter (click here) to be shared with everyone in person, and live streaming on YouTube and Facebook on Sunday, February 28th.  Plan to join us!

CONTINUE WITH US IN OUR LENTEN JOURNEY
The Lenten Season at Spirit of Joy has begun.  Our theme during Lent is "God's Love Is Shown".  We continue each Wednesday night at 6pm.  We hope that you have received the Lenten devotional, "Steadfast Love" and your yearly remembrance coin ("God Is Love").  If you have been unable to be with us in person and would like the devotional and keepsake coin, please call the church office 760-788-7456 and leave a message.  We will send them to you as soon as possible.

This Wednesday and each Wednesday through Palm Sunday we will have devotional worship recorded and available starting at 6pm. As these have always been soup suppers, plan to make soup that night and join us with the recording.  On Good Friday, our worship will again be recorded and available at 8am.  We pray that you will join us in this journey to the cross. Daily Devotions during the Lenten Season are available beginning February 22, 8am.  Join us each morning as we look to Holy Scripture as our guiding light.

For outreach ministry at Spirit of Joy we will be joining Project Mercy on Saturday, April 24th, for another house build for a family in Mexico.  We will build the home in pieces in Chula Vista.  Please let us know of your interest to help in this build. You can email admin@sojchurch.com or call (760)788-7456 and let us know of your intentions.  It is a tremendous experience, and we are in collaboration with Lutheran Church of the Incarnation in Poway on this project.

Looking ahead to Easter Sunday, we will plan in-person worship on the land.  Sunrise Easter Service will be held at 6:30am with the Easter Celebration Service to be held at 9am. Our Service will also be live streamed for those unable to be with us in person.  Plan to invite your family, friends, and neighbors to join us for this Day of Resurrection!

May God Bless you in this Lenten Journey,

     Pastor Dan

I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.
Galatians 2:20
We are so thankful that we are able to gather in the back room of our church facility for meetings, Prayers and Squares, and Bible Studies!  Each group will be able to have a maximum of 8 persons at this time.  Everyone will receive a temperature check and be asked to wear a mask.  Each group meeting will be asked to use the cleaning agents available in the back room for cleaning after each gathering.  We look forward to having our gatherings, and ask that everyone follow the safety guidelines that have been in place at Spirit of Joy since we began our worship together on the church building site.
Safety Procedure for Worship
We encourage your arrival between 8-8:45am for set up.  Everyone is encouraged to wear masks on entry and departure on the church property.  Bring your own chairs, pop-ups, umbrellas, and bottled water.  To insure your safety we will have a table with prepackaged communion (1st and 3rd Sunday each month), bulletins (also a digital bulletin is available on your electronic devices), and temperature check.  Please practice social distancing of at least 6ft of separation per family unit.  Trash cans are available to dispose of all trash upon leaving.  If for any reason you are not feeling well, at higher risk, or uncomfortable with attending, we invite you to enjoy the service live-streamed.  If you prefer staying in your car, there will be a designated area for you to do so.
