For Action
Community sexual health, reproductive health service and community gynaecology activity submissions

Towards the back end of last year we introduced the new sexual health and community gynaecology submission form. A new submission tab was added to ensure that practices meet the contracted requirements for quality declarations listed within the contracts KPIs. Unfortunately we are noticing that a number of practices are submitting their monthly activity without reporting on the quality. Reminders to complete this are sent to those who submit with this missing however we do not always receive the information back.

Please note that all submissions must be submitted by 5pm on the 15th of each month and have the quality requirements section completed for activity payments to be made. The submission date for practices to submit activity is in line with the CCGs for other locally commissioned services for consistency.

For historic claims each month must be on a separate submission form and the quality requirements completed for each month that the practice is claiming for. If you miss the deadline or do not submit the quality requirements on time payments will not be made until the following month, or when the submission form is fully completed in line with our submission and payment dates.

We are more than happy to support any practices if they are unsure on how to complete the quality requirements tab on the submission form or where they may find this information. Please contact rebecca.robinson10@nhs.net to arrange a call or virtual meeting for support.
For information
City Taxis offering up to £10k worth of journeys for patients to get to vaccination sites

City Taxis have very generously offered practices up to £10,000 worth of journeys for patients to get to network designation vaccination sites. This money is to ensure that the most vulnerable patients can get to vaccine sites.

The process of how to book these taxis is attached and as this is a finite resource we ask that you adhere to the criteria.

We are also working closely with the council who will also shortly have an offer of transport to ensure people are getting vaccinated.

For any questions please contact Sarah Chance.

Limitation of the follow-up time for the fitting provider/practice for LARC complications. (Complete the survey)

We have had some feedback that the current contract for LARC fitting is not clear regarding who the responsibility falls upon for the follow-up of long term complications. To provide clarity for fitting practices, referring practices, and patients about responsibilities we are asking for your feedback, so we can come to a consensus decision regarding this ongoing issue. The closing date for this survey is Friday 19th February 2021.

PCS 'drop-in' sessions

The PCS team is always keen to hear about anything you would like to raise with us in the way of feedback or any ideas you may have on how we might shape things going forwards.

Andy Hilton and Nicki Doherty keep a lunch time “drop in” slot available in their diary on Wednesday (Andy) and Friday (Nicki).  If you would like to catch-up with them in one of those, please simply click the button below, and we will get back to you to arrange that.

Please note that these 'drop-in' sessions are in addition to the 1:1 meetings we have been arranging with practices.

The Active Brains Study

‘Active Brains’ is a website that has been developed to help older adults look after their brain and body health to prevent cognitive decline. It supports older adults to make simple behavioural changes such as increasing physical activity, playing brain training games and finding ways to eat more healthily.  The study is being conducted to show how effective the website is in 2 groups of adults –
  • those with signs of cognitive decline,
  • those without any cognitive decline.
These groups will then be randomised to one of three study groups to receive -
  • care as they usually receive it from their GP practice
  • access to the Active Brains website,
  • access to the Active Brains website plus brief support from a trained person.
Further information about the study and the Expression of Interest form can found here on the research website or email the PCS research team at pcs.research@nhs.net
Covid-19 vaccine delivery: Understanding providers’ views on the acceptability and feasibility of hypothesized vaccine delivery models

The NIHR Health Protection Research Unit in Immunisation – a research collaboration between the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine (LSHTM) and Public Health England – are conducting an interview study to explore vaccination commissioner and provider views on the acceptability and feasibility of Covid-19 vaccine delivery models.

The study team would like to speak with vaccine commissioners and providers, who are involved in organising or delivering the COVID-19 vaccination programme via a telephone/virtual interview. The interview will be audio recorded and last approximately 30-40 minutes.

Further information about the study can be found  here on the research website or by contacting sadie.bell@lshtm.ac.uk
