March 2021                                                                                Vol 5 Issue 5
President's Message

March is almost here and I am excited to bring you BWA’s very own “March Madness – a virtual scavenger hunt and membership drive! We don’t have a date locked in yet but follow us on social media on Facebook, on LinkedIn, and on Instagram for the latest information. Plan to invite your friends, colleagues and business associates for a fun, interactive event.

I am also excited about our March program on International Women’s Day, March 8, at noon.  Join us as we indulge in a little “Self-Care for the Modern Woman” and learn effective mental health techniques and coping strategies from Dr. Maria Gorelick, Medical Director at Henderson Behavioral Health, Dr. Thelma Tennie, founder of the Healing Arts Institute of South Florida, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that offers mental health services to children and families at no cost and Dr. Marsha Brown, a licensed psychologist in private practice who specializes in teaching stress reduction to improve mental health, work performance and quality of life. Dr. Brown also hosts the podcast, “The Self-Care Chronicle.” What better way to honor women, the caretakers in our society, than by providing this much-needed health information to our membership.

Our nominating committee will be meeting soon, and I’d like to invite anyone interested in serving on the Board to let me, Debbi or Kristen know as soon as possible. There’s a lot of talent in this group and fresh perspectives are always welcome. Joining the Board of a volunteer organization is known to have positive effects on your health.*

As we begin March, I want to remind everyone that our Scholarship Committee will soon be reviewing applications and making decisions about our scholarship winners. BWA has proudly supported women in their educational endeavors for 24 years and it’s my intention to continue that tradition this year. Please let your friends, business associates and corporate partners know that we are offering scholarship sponsorships this year named after the donor/business. Of course, individual donations in smaller amounts are always welcome. As I said earlier this year, “it takes a village” and that is true more than ever this year. Let’s all come together to support our applicants’ higher education goals in these important last few months.

I look forward to connecting with you soon.

With warm regards,

Vivian Fazio

President

Vivian Fazio

President, Law Offices of Vivian H. Fazio, P.A.

I was recently appointed to the 17th Judicial Circuit Professionalism Panel by Chief Judge Jack Tuter and invited to the Nova Southeastern Law Leadership Council by The Honorable Melanie May. I look forward to serving our legal community and NSU.
Barbara Weinstein

I am so looking forward to returning as a member of the Women's Alliance. I was a member for several years and felt the Alliance is an extremely important part of our community.

I served as CEO of Family Central for 36 years retiring two years ago. My dedication and concern for our children and families continues even in my retirement. I am now serving on both the board for Kids in Distress and In Jacob's Shoes two organizations that are committed to the welfare of our community.  I also serve as the president of Congregation Kol Tikvah the synagogue in Parkland.

I have two married sons who are both lawyers and I am fortunate to have three grandchildren. My husband is Peter Weinstein a former State Senator and Chief Judge of the 17th circuit.

We are looking forward, once we have recovered from the pandemic to traveling and enjoying good times. I am looking forward to being part of the Woman's Alliance and all it has to offer.
