Wood’s Homes ‘special edition’ shows how COVID-19

has changed mental health service delivery

As we all know, a state of emergency was declared last March due to the COVID-19 pandemic. All health and human services organizations – including Wood’s Homes – have been challenged to keep pace with ever-evolving public health policies and protocols, while ensuring effective delivery of mental health services.

COVID-19 has not only had a great effect on people’s mental health, but it has also widely impacted the ways treatment services are now delivered.
Wood’s Homes’ response to these challenges has been captured in a just-released publication – the first Research to Practice Journal from a community mental health organization with a COVID focus.

There is critical need to examine which service innovations are proving to be the most successful in meeting the mental health needs of children, youth and families during the pandemic, and to share this knowledge. The Journal answers how Best Practices will be informed in the future – assisting mental health organizations across the country.
This special edition showcases the innovative work occurring within Wood’s Homes and makes a substantial contribution to the emerging knowledge.

Produced by the Wood’s Homes Research Department, this edition was made possible through public donations to the Wood’s Homes Foundation by community donors who were interested in understanding the impact of COVID-19 on service innovations to children, youth and families.
