Hello <<First Name>>,

Joe HydeDo you know what the latest thing to get canceled is? The famous ski resort, Squaw Valley.

Ron Cohen, President and COO of Squaw Valley Alpine Resort, announced the decision to change the resort’s name because, “we are confronted with the overwhelming evidence that the term ‘squaw’ is offensive.” It’s a racist and sexist slur, he claimed. If Squaw Valley wasn’t in Colorado, but here in Texas, they could have renamed it Lone Star Ski Resort. Nice ring.

With too much virtue signaling these days consuming so much of our mindshare, it’s no wonder no one is thinking about our power grid. After spending about 10 hours with no electricity in 20 degree weather, I say leave the ski resort’s name alone and come over here and solve a real problem.

Concerning the Texas problem… Where’s Joe Biden? Had Trump not lost a dishonest election, we’d have 24/7 national news asking when 45 was going to come to Texas and observe us unbathed folks freezing while dehydrated. But Biden is hiding and gets a pass.

Manny Diaz investigates the San Angelo Jeep Club’s assistance of Meals for the Elderly in today’s edition. Meals is a very worthy non-profit that saves us millions every year in health care expenses. Instead of having to live in expensive assisted living facilities, seniors can live longer in their own homes in part because they get a hot meal almost every day. Worthy cause if you ask me. I might get on the program, too. Now, I told my son that he was responsible for taking care of me when I get to ‘old folks’ home’ age. I told him every diaper he changes on me saves him $700 in inheritance. I thought I had him convinced. Then he learned about Meals for the Elderly and how it will delay his responsibilities for years. “Get a nurse for the diapers,” he added. I updated my will.

Apple installed a transgender emoji of a bearded woman on the iPhone this week. You know, it was done for corporate responsibility and all that. The emoji looks like Barry Gibb of the Bee Gees, Kenny Loggins, or Jesus. Your pick. If it’s really Jesus, someone needs to cancel Apple because Jesus is worse than Squaw Valley. There is also a transgender flag and the existing transgender multi-gender logo. I have loaded them all up on my favorites and will be using them in my texting from here on out in order to up my virtue signaling game. That way I don’t have to solve real problems. Here’s the Apple transgender emoji that is part of iOS v. 14.5.

More on Apple’s new emojis here.

We are still waiting on words about what was in the water last week that contaminated PaulAnn and the rest of the “lower plane” of the San Angelo water distribution system. I’ve been told that the key ingredient discovered in the water was naphthalene. That chemical along with benzene points towards some sort of tar. Investigators drove up here from McAllen last week to investigate. I’ll bet you they are holed up at the Marriott waiting for winter to end. Regardless of what source they find, I’d wear a mask when around PaulAnn residents as an "abundance of caution."

That’s all for now. I hope you enjoyed today’s edition. Stay safe, or whatever.

State Rep. Brooks Landgraf wants new regulations after ERCOT disaster "State Representative Brooks Landgraf said he wants the Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT) held accountable after the winter storm left thousands in the dark for days. Landgraf said when the Texas Legislature meets they’re going to take a close look at ERCOT’s failure to prepare for the storm. One of the main focuses will be to make it mandatory for companies to winterize equipment like wind turbines and natural gas wells so energy production doesn’t grind to a halt during severe winter storms." Second highest number of COVID-19 deaths reported in El Paso "he El Paso Department of Public Health reported 182 new COVID-19 cases and 41 deaths on Wednesday. Wednesday's COVID-19 deaths are the second highest number reported since December 10, 2020 when 44 deaths were reported." More at KFOX 14

Carpet Tech helping hundreds of customers clean up after burst pipes "With this long stretch of record low temperatures, many Lubbock residents are struggling in the aftermath of frozen and burst pipes. Carpet Tech says they are busier than they have ever been, helping customers clean up the mess. “I’ve been with Carpet Tech for almost 15 years now, and the amount of people that need help has been more than ever before,” Stephanie Henderson, operations manager for Carpet Tech, said. The business has taken at least 300 calls over the last two days asking them to help clean up floods caused by busted pipes, Henderson said." More at KCBD

Energy expert predicted Texas power grid would collapse like the Soviet Union "The Trouble Shooters are digging deeper for you into why ERCOT, the Texas power grid, has failed us this week. ERCOT is an acronym for Electric Reliability Council of Texas. Early Wednesday morning, billionaire Elon Musk who just moved to Texas tweeted, “ERCOT is not earning that R” for Reliability. Some energy experts have been sounding the alarm for years, comparing ERCOT to the Soviet Union: limping along for years until an inevitable collapse. "The ERCOT market was destined to fail,” says University of Houston energy fellow Ed Hirs." More at KTXS

FEMA supplying generators, diesel, water and blankets to Texas, White House spokesperson says "White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki said Wednesday during a daily news briefing that the administration is monitoring the situation in Texas in coordination with FEMA, as well as other states affected by the severe winter weather. "FEMA has supplied generators to Texas and is preparing to move diesel into the state to ensure the continued availability of backup power -- which of course is a major issue on the ground -- to key critical infrastructure, including communications, hospitals, and water," Psaki said." Texans running out of food as weather crisis cripples supply chain "The state's week of weather hell started with a deadly 133-car pileup outside of Fort Worth. A winter storm unlike any Texas has ever seen quickly followed, and seven days later, millions are without power and reliable water. And now Texans are running out of food. From farm to table, freezing temperatures and power outages are crippling the food supply chain that people rely on every day. Across the state, people are using up supplies they had stockpiled and losing more as items start to spoil in dark refrigerators. Some are storing their remaining rations in coolers outside, and trips to the grocery store often do little to replenish pantries." More at Texas Tribune

Drone photos show San Antonio loves Whataburger, even during icy conditions "If there is one thing San Antonians will risk slick roads for, it's Whataburger. Despite the icy road conditions in the city, drone shots from local photographer Paul DiGiovanni show a long line formed around the Whataburger location on Broadway, near Mulberry, early Wednesday morning." More at MySanAntonio

How to tell if your food is spoiled after a power outage "Millions of people have been without power in Texas, but as more lights come back on, it’ll be important to make sure food in refrigerators and freezers are still safe to eat. Ideally, refrigerators should be at 40°F or below and freezers should be at 0°F or below. When the power goes out, try not to open doors to keep that temperature stable." More at KXAN

Texas Game Wardens rescue more than 140 cold-stunned sea turtles unable to swim "The sea turtles are just as cold as we are. On Tuesday, Texas Game Wardens posted on its Facebook page that officers rescued 141 cold-stunned sea turtles from the frigid waters of the Brownsville Ship Channel and surrounding bays. Wardens transported the sea turtles to rehabilitation facilities to recover and will be released back into the wild when the weather warms up." More at Chron.com

How to thaw pipes, or what to do if it already burst "With so many who lost electricity, this scenario was unavoidable. Many North Texans have frozen pipes in their homes and businesses. The best thing to do is call a trusted, licensed plumber to handle the situation. You may not know that your frozen pipe is already cracked and it may burst if it's thawed. It can be dangerous to use electrical appliances to heat the pipe, as that can create a risk of electrocution." More at WFAA

Very informative article.  I'd note that the graph indicates that mains frequency dropped to around 59.3 Hz rather than the stated 53.308 Hz.  Probably a typo.  A half of a Hz drop is enough for load shedding to occur though.

I don't see "allegedly" in any of these headlines, they all indicate guilt by the headline. I can certainly find more, but to say that you make "no assumptions or representations about guilt or innocence of anyone" is blatantly false. But I wouldn't expect anything better from a "publication" run by the republican terrorists.

Biden
CGM5, Sun, 02/07/2021 - 08:27

A father trying to protect his son and also fend off any political heat by denying their guilt. Sound familiar, Joe and Hunter come to mind. However, most of the media kept that story as quiet as possible. Funny how that works.

Yes, people stormed the capitol. A low life hit an officer with a fire extinguisher, killed him and he should be executed for that. The FBI is pulling out all stops to hunt all these people down.

Where was all this drive for justice when antifa was rioting, burning down citizen's businesses, involved in massive looting, fire bombing police while chanting death to pigs, killing people who would stand against them, in general destroying lives and doing all this over a period of months and in several cities. There isn't much news about them being hunted down.   Of course the media and the left proclaimed these as peaceful protests. Again, funny how that works.
