What inspired you to enter the law profession?
I knew I wanted to be a lawyer around 5th grade. In high school I joined the mock trial team. Our school was new and there were not enough participants so I played both a prosecuting attorney and a defense attorney throughout competitions. I ended up winning awards for both roles. I knew even in the mock version of the courtroom that attorneys had a tremendous amount of power over the lives of people in the community. It was clear at a young age that the law could either be used as a sword or a shield and could create an incredible impact when used to fight for people in need of a voice.
