Wednesday Electron Microscopy Talks
Over past 18 months Electron Microscopy Core Facility has had the major installation of two new state-of-the-art electron microscopes with investments from the Faculty Capital Fund and BBSRC alert grant. Despite the difficulties with COVID-19 restrictions, both are now operational and available for use. In addition, some lesser pieces of equipment (like carbon coater and resin ovens) were upgraded as well.

The time has come to re-introduce the Facility to general research community and they want to present the new series of lectures that will cover amazing possibilities available after the upgrade. This series will consist of seven presentations delivered by members of staff. Find out more here.

IDSAI/Turing Sandpits
Through the partnership with the Alan Turing Institute, the University of Manchester’s Institute for Data Science and Artificial Intelligence (IDSAI) is hosting four ‘sandpit’ events in March 2021, based around the major themes of the Greater Manchester Local Industrial Strategy, with input from the related Turing Institute programmes.

The Alan Turing Institute are providing a small amount of funding for a number of successful six-month projects which develop from the sandpits. Sandpits which may be of interest to the AMM community include:
•    Advanced Materials and Manufacturing (10 and 11 March)
•    Health and Care Innovation (16, 17 and 18 March)

Introduction to Horizon Europe Webinar
Horizon Europe are pleased to present this introductory webinar so you can get prepared before the first funding calls are announced, start thinking about who you would like to collaborate and form partnerships with, and to have all the information you need in advance.

The UK aims to maintain a close relationship with European partners in the next European research and innovation Framework Programme: Horizon Europe. The programme has a projected budget of over EUR 95.5 billion, to be distributed between 2021 and 2027 and represents a significant opportunity for UK companies to access finance for research and development and innovation. It is an opportunity to form collaborations in new supply chains, for SMEs to build relationships with multinational partners, and gives a route for businesses to reach new markets, facilitating uptake of new technologies by end users and customers. The collaboration is important – it is not just about funding.

There will plenty of time for Q&A and you will also be able to submit questions ahead of time via an online form which is available on the registration page along with the provisional agenda online as well as information on our Speakers. Register here.

When: 11 March, 10am - 12pm
