AES's African-American Virtual Read-In As part of AES's Black History Month celebrations, we will be participating in this national event on February 25 and 26, only this time in a virtual format! If you are interested in participating as a virtual reader for one of our classes, please complete this form to indicate your interest and availability.
The Wake Up & Readprogram is hosting its 8th annual book drive with a goal of collecting 200,000 books for children across Wake County. Begininng February 1st, please drop off your gently used books in the box located in the vestibule by the front office. Collections will run until February 25th.
Join us in learning about heart health and raising funds to protect all hearts – especially other kids’! Through fun activities we’ll discover ways to take care of our hearts and brains while practicing kindness, gratitude and learning ways to de-stress. Plus, we have the chance to earn PE equipment for our school!

Sunshine Cart Items Needed
Help spread some sunshine to our amazing staff by contributing to our Sunshine Cart. Requested items are: Full size candy bars, sodas (not diet or seltzers), chips, cookies, candy, and chocolates (no pretzels or popcorn, please). Donations may be dropped off at the school.

Reflections DEI Call for Artwork
Our 2020-2021 Reflections theme, I Matter Because… has taken on a new meaning and allows us to connect with what so many of our Black and Brown children may be feeling today. And so, we invite Reflections artists of color and their allies to share artwork that expresses and affirms their beliefs and identities—as well as the importance of Black lives. Select works will be used to help us celebrate diversity in the arts.
