Introducing
In 2010, Every Meal began by providing weekend food bags to one kindergarten classroom at Sheridan Elementary in Northeast Minneapolis.  Every Meal recognized that food insecurity was happening throughout the Twin Cities, and became a nonprofit in 2013 to grow their network of community and school partners. As of fall 2019, they serve over 6,500 children in over 200 schools in their weekend food program and another 3,200 children in over 70 additional locations through their other programs.

At CoS, we thought 2020-21 would be the perfect time to partner with Every Meal due to the ongoing pandemic.  We recognize that many families may be under additional strains at this time.  While we do need to internally keep track of who would like to receive this service to ensure we have enough food, this information is not shared with anyone outside of the school, nor are there any eligibility requirements.  While we strongly believe there should be no shame or judgement about taking steps to ensure the wellbeing of your children, food will be distributed as discreetly as possible within the constraints of our facilities.

Below, please fill out a form for one or more of your children that attend COS if you are interested in enrolling in this program.  Again, this information will be kept confidential.  We plan to begin distribution of food in March.  Please contact City Connects site coordinator: Chris Benefield cbenefield@communityofsaints.org or Bridget Kramer: bkramer@communityofsaints.org with any questions.

The Lenten season has begun in the Catholic Church.  The purpose of Lent is to set aside time for reflection on Jesus Christ--to prepare for his death on Good Friday and resurrection on Easter. Lent is a time to focus on the three disciplines of prayer, fasting, and almsgiving.  Below are some lenten videos and activities for families to use over the next few weeks.

Dear Community of Saints Families,

We would like to thank the many families that participated in conferences.  If you were unable to attend and would like to discuss your child(ren)'s progress, please reach out directly to their teacher(s).

This week, grades 2-5 returned to full in-person learning.  The fully in-person option includes in-person learning on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, & Fridays.  Families also had the choice to remain in full distance.  We ask that families commit to their decision until spring break (March 25th).

Grades 6-8: We continue to hold March 1st as our first day to bring back grades 6-8 fully in person.  When March 1st arrives, students will be fully in-person learning on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, & Fridays.  As stated above, Wednesdays will continue to be full distance learning days.

While the information above is our full intention and plan, please know that if at any time the safe and effective operation at full capacity becomes or feels at risk, we will pivot back to our previous model.  We will also continue to follow MDH guidelines and procedures accordingly.

Thank you for your patience, grace, and flexibility during these strange times.  We are so proud to serve your family, and we remain committed to your child experiencing faith, inclusivity, and love at Community of Saints.

Sincerely,

Ms. Kramer

Enrollment 2021-22 School Year

Our early enrollment period is underway for the 2021-22 school year.

Enrollment for current K-7 students

You do not need to do anything at this time.  Current K-7 students fall under our continuous enrollment process. Continuous enrollment means once a student enrolls at Community of Saints, we assume the student will remain at the school through 8th grade unless a family tells us otherwise. The vast majority of Community of Saints families re-enroll from year-to-year and continuous enrollment simplifies that process – no forms or due dates!

In January, current kindergarten through 7th grade students will be placed on the class list for 2021-2022 school year.  In March, your TADS Tuition Management account will be charged a $50 registration fee.  This fee exists for costs associated with planning and purchasing for next year.

If you do not plan to have your child/ren at Community of Saints next year, we ask that you contact the school office by January 31st.  This allows us to cancel your registration fee and plan accordingly for 2020-21 enrollment.  Alternatively, if you have a sibling you would like to register or a new family to recommend to our school, new student enrollment forms are available in the school office.

Current Preschool Students

Current preschool students must re-enroll for the 2021-22 school year.  The month of January is our early enrollment period in which preschool students and siblings of current students have enrollment priority for preschool and kindergarten for the 2021-22 school year.

Siblings of Current Students

If you wish to enroll a sibling who isn’t currently enrolled, please do so now during the early enrollment period throughout January.  Sibling enrollment forms are available through the school office.

District 197 Bus Meal Delivery:
Since December 7, School District 197 has been delivering daily breakfasts and lunches to children ages 1-18 at drop-off points throughout the district. No registration and no identification is required. Simply come to a drop-off point near you at the delivery time on school days and get meals for your children. Buses will wait 10 minutes at each site.

To find a drop-off point near you, check the district map below, find the route that covers your area, and check the drop-off points by route: https://www.isd197.org/departments/meals
