Staff Notes

March 2020

Bank

  • Young Americans Bank is hiring New Account Representatives!  This is a perfect job for teens and college-age youth.  The job description and application are available online.
  • Money Matters Classes are offered online, and the Bank just launched a new suite of classes where kids can earn a $10 savings certificate for participating.  Register here!
  • The Young Americans Bank branches continue to operate with adjusted hours: Belmar is closed on Tuesdays and Far Northeast is closed on Saturdays.

Programs

  • Summer Camp registration is now live!  Youth entering grades 3-8 in fall, 2021 are eligible to participate.
  • The new Young AmeriTowne is nearly complete!  The downstairs break room is now open and should be used instead of the upstairs, Programs work area, especially because school groups are returning to the building.  We expect to have our certificate of occupancy soon and are working on finishing details.
  • Financial Girl Scout Badge Classes are available online!  Low-cost classes are for all levels of scouts from Daisies to Ambassadors.

YouthBiz

  • Spotlight on YouthBiz Stars applications are now open!  With cash prizes up to $5,000, it's worth it to apply.  Youth ages 6-21 are eligible, as long as they have made at least one business sale.
  • YouthBiz Workshops continue this month:
    • Paper Product Perfection - Tuesday, March 9
    • It's All Who You Know Virtual Networking Party - Thursday, March 25

Development

  • The Development team is hosting a virtual Donor Appreciation event on Wednesday, March 3. In addition to providing a sneak-peek of the new Young AmeriTowne, Rich will reveal the results of a two-year study into the impact of the AmeriTowne program.
  • Young Americans Center is planning for an in-person gala on Thursday, October 7 at Young Americans Center for Financial Education.
  • We wish Communications Director Janet Redwine well as she leaves Young Americans for a new role and a new degree at the University of Denver.
