Spotlight On: Functional Independent Living
In recent years, Variety has developed a strong focus on workforce development for young adults, ages 14-21, with disabilities. However, one of the missing pieces in our services has been the ability to provide life skills programming to help our population prepare to build a home life and live independently. Variety’s newest Functional Independent Living program aims to help individuals gain the necessary skills needed for independence in all aspects of their daily lives.

Comcast + VarietyWorks = A Winning Partnership!
“The VarietyWorks program helps build the digital skills necessary for employment in today’s workforce. Comcast’s support for this program reflects our longstanding commitment to digital inclusion and partnership with important community partners like Variety,”  says William Bronson, Director of Community Impact at Comcast.

Variety is incredibly grateful for our long standing partnership with Comcast NBCUniversal Foundation and their continued support of our VarietyWorks workforce development program. VarietyWorks is a critical program providing individuals with disabilities, aged 14-24, the skills needed to be successful in the community workforce. There is a great need to support young adults with disabilities transitioning out of entitlement services at age 21 into the workforce, specifically in jobs of interest to them.

The most recent funding from the Comcast NBCUniversal Foundation supported the purchase of iPads and implementation of Remote Desktop Services for VarietyWorks staff and clients, which increases access to Variety resources for work readiness in a COVID world. These technology upgrades not only support the VarietyWorks program and mission, but also align with the values of the Comcast NBCUniversal Foundation—promoting digital skills in the workforce by instilling individuals with the technology skills needed to secure and sustain employment and staying relevant in a changing marketplace.

This grant from the Comcast NBCUniversal Foundation is in recognition of Comcast’s commitment to the communities where its customers and employees live and work.
Registration is OPEN for Summer Programs!
We are thrilled to be able to host our summer programs on Variety’s campus and will apply lessons learned over the past year to ensure that your child is able to have a fantastic time in as safe and healthy a manner as possible. This summer, we will maintain the same high standards for sanitation and cleanliness. We will continue to utilize entry screening, contracted cleaning services, social distancing, frequent hand washing and sanitizing of high touch surfaces throughout the day.
