I don't have any amazing writing to offer you today because I'm too busy WRITING! But my amazing colleagues, memoirist Sandy Bliss and poet Alison Luterman offered up some beautiful words and deep thoughts this month, especially about the "where do we go from here" national unity conundrum.
My first goal this year is to prepare the fully realized Ten Days, Ten Poundsfor beta readers and find a publisher. This story about my trip to Italy six years ago started as a blog and has continued to demand attention from me. It is soon to emerge, fully formed, as a travel memoir that will sit on shelves next to Eat Pray Love, Wild, and Four Seasons in Rome, gods willing.
This last rewrite, which re-shapes the story into a novelesque read, has taken me so much deeper into already scary territory. I am making the most of the form, encouraged by my teachers and editors to bring forth all my glorious quirk to turn up the drama that raged inside me in that version of me.
