AoCS March News Update 2021
Connect & Collaborate – The Coaching Supervision Partnership are excited to be the newest organisational members of AOCS. We are a values-led organisation whose belief in the practice of supervision as an essential enabler of coaching excellence inspires us to keep learning and sharing.

The Coaching Supervision Partnership offers one-to-one and group coaching supervision, supervisor training to ILM L7, CPD workshops and research. We explore and share client-focused, research-based approaches to supervision and coaching and are excited to be able to contribute to the work of AoCS in shaping the supervision agenda.

We are keen to collaborate with AOCS to share our passion for learning and to discover and share the joy our work brings. In learning and growing together with other AOCS members we bring our dedication to developing our professional skills and practice and supporting others to do the same, aspiring always to be the best we can be and to inspire our clients to do the same.

Our seven qualified and practising coaches and coach supervisors have experience supervising internal and independent coaches working in diverse settings including healthcare, education, not-for-profit, SMEs, large corporate and blue-chip multinationals. Our supervision provides coaches with the insight to tackle challenging cases, the stimulus to keep learning and the support to keep them working at their absolute best. Our group supervision settings create communities of learning and support that encourage sharing of good practice whilst enriching client skills and knowledge.

Spotlight on Member Volunteer

Michelle Lucas

Some of you may know Michelle through her work on AOCS Co-            Supervision Space already.

Here’s what makes it a particularly special achievement for her…

“As someone who was in constant danger of flunking her ‘O’ Level English class, I have surprised myself at the joy I experience when writing about being a coach and coaching supervision practitioner.

I’ve been delighted at the positive response to 101 Coaching Supervision Techniques, Approaches, Enquiries and Experiments published by Routledge in May 2020. It was a massive undertaking, gathering contributions from 43 authors and organising techniques into their underpinning philosophies. However, I’m also realising that publishing the book, was not the end of the project … it was the start!

I am now working on finding new ways of sharing the content with a wider audience. I will be ever grateful to AOCS for partnering with me to launch the Co-Supervision Space – a monthly opportunity, free to members, where we experiment with individual supervision techniques in triad work. Feedback so far has been fantastic with the sessions selling out within hours of AOCS releasing the tickets.

Coming in May of this year, and one year on, I will be taking this one step further and offering a space where people can experiment with group techniques. I’ll be carrying this out under my own Greenfields brand and you can find out more here. I’m pleased to offer a 20% discount for AOCS Members."

If you think you can support us in some way, please contact Yvette Elcock and maybe the next spotlight will be on you!

Raising the Bar in Ethical Practice - Ethical Resources

The AC and AOCS are delighted to announce the launch of a new resource for raising the bar in ethical practice through supporting coaching and mentoring supervisors.

Ethical Supervision Resources

We have sourced resources from across the profession and expect these to be relevant to coaches, mentors, and coach training organisations to help them explore ethical issues and to learn more about ethical practice.

The web-based content includes:

  • introduction and context
  • ethics and coaching supervision
  • ethical awareness and maturity
  • sample scenarios for self-assessment
  • approaches and models
  • resource list and current codes of ethics

Here are some of the comments received so far:
“ ...deeply researched and thoughtful...expressed in clear language which unfolds and makes accessible the complexity of the ethical issues we face - and the insights and tools that will enable us to rise to the challenge.” Dr Henry Campion, Co-Visor.

“An extremely thorough and helpful resource for supervisors and coaches. May I congratulate everyone on the team who has contributed to this significant contribution to the field and the development of our profession.” Dr Alison Hodge, Executive Coaching Supervisor.

New Professional Events Calendar

A big thank you to Member Chris Birbeck for his work and ongoing encouragement with this project.

Our aim is to provide a one-stop shop for all professional events that might be of interest to our Membership Community beyond what Members might choose to promote on our Events page or their Profile page.

Do look and let us know what you think. We are particularly keen to hear about professional events that we have missed despite the diligent research work of Chris!
