Keep Kids Up to Date on Routine Vaccinations
Immunizations required to come to school • Exclusion Day Feb. 17
Is your child up to date on their shots?
4J students will return to schools in a hybrid model this spring. There's no COVID vaccine for children yet, but routine vaccination requirements still apply for students to come to school. Keeping your kids up to date on required immunizations will help them transition safely and quickly to in-person learning when the time comes.
State law requires immunizations for diseases such as polio, measles and pertussis. To attend public schools, charter schools, private schools, preschools and childcare facilities in Oregon, students must have a complete and up-to-date record of vaccination, medical or nonmedical exemption, or immunity documentation for every immunization required for the student’s grade. Information about vaccination requirements and exemption rates is available on the district website.
If your student doesn't have all their shots, or the documentation in their student record is not up to date, you will receive an exclusion notice stating that you must show proof of vaccination, exemption or immunity or they won't be able to participate in on-campus learning and activities, such as sports, starting on Feb. 17 and until their immunization records are in compliance with state law.
Vaccines are available at many pharmacies, healthcare providers’ offices, Lane County Public Health (541-682-4041), and the school-based health centers at Churchill (541-790-5227) and North Eugene (541-790-4445). Call for information or to schedule an appointment.
