My new book The Last Convict was published in early February and is now available for purchase in the shops and online. If you wished for a copy signed with a personal message from myself, orders can be placed through my website here. The cost is $33 plus $10.50 for postage and packaging. It is also available as an audio book with a fine reading by Julian Garner at most outlets.
The Last Convict is an historical novel based on the life of Samuel Speed, who believed himself to be, and is widely accepted, as the last transported convict to die in Australia. Convicted of setting fire to a barley stack and sent to Fremantle on the convict ship Belgravia in 1866, Sam Speed got his freedom in 1871. He lived in Western Australia for another 67 years. He died at the Perth Old Men’s Home in November 1938, on the eve of the Second World War and within the lifetimes of many people still living.
With kind regards
