ISA ONLINE NATIONAL COMPETITION - WINNERS ANNOUNCED

The results of the ISA National Online Competition were announced over the Christmas/New Year period and NSWISA were both excited and proud to see results of our skaters. NSWISA hosted the NSW performances at Macquarie Ice Rink in December and it was terrific to have our top Ice Dance couple Matilda Friend and William Badoui announcing as they couldn't be on the ice themselves. TRAINING & DEVELOPMENT CAMP
Our first Training & Development Camp is scheduled for 21st February 2021. NSWISA are lucky to have the expertise of Kylie Fennell and Monica MacDonald running sessions at this event. Both very experienced and successful coaches in our sport. To add to our coaching expertise on the day will be Rebecca Andrew, an ISU Singles & Pairs Judge, International Singles & Pairs Referee, ISU SYS Judge and International SYS Referee.
This is a great way to start your skating season so be sure to register while places are still available!
NSWISA NEW REGISTRATION PLATFORM
NSWISA has partnered with Assemble Sports to develop a user friendly and mobile responsive registration platform. While there were a few teething issues with the release, we would like to take the opportunity to thank you for your patience and the feedback we have received. This feedback has been incredibly helpful and we look forward to releasing our event registration platform in the coming weeks.
As this is a new platform, everyone will first need to create a user account before registering for NSWISA membership. By creating a user account, other profiles can be linked to the one user account. This means event and member registrations can be completed in the one transaction rather than in multiple transactions.
When you reach the landing page as shown below, select "Sign Up". The "Sign Up" button is located under the blue Login button. Enter your details as requested, when complete, you should receive a verification code. Enter this code - you are now signed up and can register and pay for membership.  Parents registering on behalf of their children can choose to add additional members.  You will be given the option to add one or more members before registering them to a membership type.
The platform will continue to evolve so that test levels, and other event submissions will become part of the system.
Remember the Early Bird registration pricing for Junior, Senior, Synchro and Theatre on Ice memberships has been extended until 14th February so be sure to renew your membership now to take advantage of the discounts!
If you are experiencing any problems in registration, please do not hesitate to contact membership@nswisa.com.
AUSSIE SKATE APP NOW AVAILABLE
The national learn to skate program, Aussie SkateTM, now has an app available for participants in the program. It covers all levels of the program with, information about elements, video examples of elements and diagrams of competition programs for levels with set programs. The app is now available on Apple and Google Play Stores. Go to the Aussie SkateTM webpage where there are links to the stores. Skaters will receive a promo code when they join the ISA Aussie SkateTM program, which they can then use to access the app for free. Skaters can register to join the program via the link on the ISA website at https://www.isa.org.au/aussie-skate-tm. Judges will also be given a promo code for the App when they register to judge Aussie Skate competitions.  Any other interested parties can download the app for a $4.49 once off fee and then have it forever.
GET YOUR WWCC NUMBER NOW BEFORE COMPETITION BEGINS
No event can be held without the efforts of our volunteers. Through volunteering, our skating families are able to connect with others who share the same interest and passion for the sport. We are fortunate that we have a very dedicated volunteer group, however, we are always looking for more volunteers to ease the workload of our regular volunteers at events. NSWISA requires its volunteers to have a WWCC number to ensure that our sport is prioritising the safety of our young people. A WWCC number lasts for a period of 5 years and can be applied for at Service NSW.
In order to verify the status of a volunteer, the organising committees will need the surname, the WWCC number and the date of birth of each volunteer. Having this information handy will make the preparations much easier for the organisers of events and will ensure that our sport will be providing a safe environment for our skaters.
CHILD SAFE STANDARDS
The Office of the Children's Guardian has been working in 2020 to develop Child Safe Standards. These Standards provide a framework for making organisations safer for children and have been accepted by the NSW Government. The Standards provide tangible guidance for organisations to create cultures, adopt strategies and act to put the interests of children first, to keep them safe from harm.
In 2021, NSWISA will be working through these standards with our Clubs to ensure that our sport not only complies with the standards, but also embeds child safety in the attitudes, behaviours and practices in our sport.

We thank our Clubs and volunteers for working together to ensure that we are providing a safe environment for our skaters and our families.
More information on the Child Safe Standards can be found here.
BOARD MATTERS
On 10th January 2021, the NSWISA Board & Admin met at Sports House for a full day workshop to discuss the strategy of the Association. There was much creative and in-depth discussion regarding supporting our Members, financials and technology. The Board is committed to further developing many areas of NSWISA's operations to better support our Members and provide exciting opportunities for our skating family. As with any plans, the recruitment of volunteers is required in order for the sport to continue to evolve. For anyone who is interested in getting more involved, please contact admin@nswisa.com to discuss your areas of interest and ideas.
