Today 10th February a press conference officially launched "Green Farm Innovation" by SG PROJECT. It is a programme that aims to support Italian agribusiness and supply chains towards the green transition.

Thanks to the common agricultural policy (CAP), requirements are in place to reduce the use of plant protection products through support for organic farming and by banning their use in ecological focus areas under greening payments. In addition, cross-compliance has contributed to limiting the use of fertilisers in nitrate vulnerable zones. These are among the findings of the evaluation support study on the impact of the CAP on sustainable management of the soil published last week by the European Commission.
The European Commission has opened until 2nd April a feedback period on the duration of protection of plant breeders’ rights extended for certain species.
In this first trimester of 2021, AREFLH welcomes 4 new members in its network : 4 organisations in the field of the fruit and vegetable production. These are the AOPn Strawberries from France, the APOn Tomatoes and Cucumbers from France, Cénaldi and BVEO. Thanks to these new memberships, AREFLH strengthens its representativeness and now covers 10 EU countries: Germany, Austria, Belgium, Spain, France, Greece, Italy, Ireland , the Netherlands and Portugal.
In the framework of the NUTRIMAN project, a thematic network on Nitrogen and Phosphorus that collects knowledge about the products, technologies, applications and practices of recovered biological fertilizers, AREFLH, in co-organises with IDfel, the workshop "The NUTRIMAN project & the new European regulation on fertilizers" on 23 February from 2:00 pm to 3:30 pm. AREFLH is a partner of the CONSOLE project – “CONtract SOLutions for Effective and lasting delivery of agri-environmental-climate public goods by EU agriculture and forestry". This month we focus on a case study: Organic wine in Rueda, Spain.
The overall goal of this initiative is to expand organic wine production in an emblematic area that influences greatly the Spanish wine market. Read more
The demand for pollinator-dependent crops is increasing. At the same time agriculture restrictions on pesticides. Integrated pest management has been suggested as a way to tackle this dilemma and help mitigate pollinator decline. However, this strategy is not explicitly pollinator friendly. A new framework called “integrated pest and pollinator management” (IPPM) promotes pest management strategies that also benefit pollinators.
This year the EU agri promotion calls info day took place online over two days, on 28th and 29th January. The web streaming and the presentations are now available on CHAFEA’s website.
