Sometimes it is hard to know what to say to your kids.  Jordan Ela, DBS's School Counselor, created this resource to provide families with resources on how to speak to elementary school children about topics such as divorce, death, gender identity, and racism.  If you would like more information, please reach out to Jordan at elaj@hartfordschools.net

Show the PTO Some Love this Valentine’s Day

The DBS PTO has not been able to host our usual fundraisers this school year due to COVID-19. That doesn’t mean we don’t have fundraising goals!

The PTO plans to purchase a new climbing dome for the playground. While we may not be able to raise all the funds required this year, we will continue our efforts into the next school year. How can you help?

If you are able during the month of February, please consider a direct donation to the DBS PTO. No catalog sales, no fun runs, no movie nights, just a donation from your family to our school community. If now isn’t ideal, a donation can be made at any time that feels right!

We’ve made it easier…Donations can be made through VENMO @dothanbrookpto or by check made payable to: DBS PTO and delivered to the school front office.

In the past, movie nights, hockey concessions, fun runs, mini golf, bake sales and yard sales have been fun ways to raise money for our school community. These funds have paid for: enrichment activities and materials, playground equipment, special author visits, artists-in-residence, field trips, projector screen for assemblies, ice cream socials and so much more.

DOME:  Dome: $14862

The Mount Ascutney Prevention Partnership is hosting a free virtual screening of the movie LIKE.

LIKE is an IndieFlix Original documentary about finding a balance in our digital world. Technology is a tool. It’s here to stay and social platforms are a place to connect, share and care, but what’s really happening? Are we addicted? How do we stop? Where do we start? What do we need to know? By understanding the effects of technology and social media on the brain, on our lives and on our civilization, we can learn how to navigate it more safely together.

Our goal for this film is to inspire people of all ages, especially kids, to self regulate. It’s not about blame. It’s about looking in the mirror and empowering ourselves to create balance in our lives and to learn to be there for each other.

The film is available for viewing from February 14th until February 27th. Sign up to get a FREE ticket to watch the film.
