The 2020-2021 triathlon season is in full swing! After a great ITC Race in January, and a strong showing by ITC athletes at Elite Energy's Tri Batemans Bay, we now look to the iconic Husky Triathlon Festival - and the Triathlon Australia Long Distance Championships for 2021! News on Club support, plus we've got a discount for ITC members at an upcoming local event.

NEXT ITC RACE
SUNDAY 21st FEBRUARY

Our next club race is on Sunday 21st February at the Five Islands Secondary College, Port Kembla.
|
|
|
|
With only one week to go until the 2021 Elite Energy Huskisson Triathlon Festival, it's a great chance for those looking to sharpen up on their racing skills before the big dance down at Husky.
And for those not heading down the coast, why not come out and swim, bike, and run your morning away!

Our races are fully sanctioned by Triathlon Australia, including our COVID Safe Plan

Club distance triathlon: 400m swim, 13.2km bike, 4.4km run
Short club distance triathlon: 200m swim, 6.6km bike, 2.2km run
Check-in opens at 6:45am and closes at 7.30am.
Race briefing is at 7.45am. Race starts at 8am sharp.
Be sure to register before 6pm the night before the race.

RACE RECAPS
Elite Energy Tri Batemans Bay, February 6th 2021
Friday night down the coast saw a proper summer stormfront roll in - enough to make any triathlete a little nervous on race eve.
Thankfully, the morning greeted athletes with subdued conditions at Tomakin Beachl, albeit a little shallow! The low tide made for very challenging swim conditions, with some athletes fighting the current back up the Tomaga River, to others embracing some "tough mudder" skills hiking through the mid-river mudflats back to T1.
Followed by pancake flat out and back bike and run courses, some very speedy times were recorded over the various race distances. When the sun came out though, there was no escaping that heat!

Congratulations to all of our ITC athletes who participated, with some incredible results achieved! Some notable ITC member performances included:
ULTIMATE: James Alexander AG 1st (4th overall), David Raymond AG 1st, Dean Marcinkowski AG 3rd.
STANDARD: Joel Taddeo AG 3rd, RIchard Cook AG 4th, Jenny Fisher AG 1st, and great performances by both Gemma & Guy Brooks.
SPRINT: Angus Waddel AG 1st (2nd overall), Col Steele AG 3rd, and well done to Peter Roope, Brad Robinson, and Eric Vickery.

ITC Juniors NSW Billigence Junior Draft Legal Series Wrap-Up
Our ITC Youth (U15) and Junior (U19) athletes have recently completed the NSW Billigence Junior draft legal series, consisting of 7 races throughout NSW. It has been some 10 years since NSW Junior triathletes have had such a series, the competition was fierce, and all our club athletes competed with distinction.

|
Skye Bell, Montana Doubell, Alexis Bell, Callum Burge contested the Youth division, with all finishing well inside the top 10. For Montana this included two 3rd place finishes in her first year of triathlon which is an outstanding achievement. Skye, Montana and Callum were part of the Youth mixed relay team that picked up bronze at the NSW Mixed Relay Championship in Orange.
In the Junior, division Jacinta Cliff dominated the Junior Women’s division, with several first place performances and on the podium every race she contested. Alex Pozer also contested the Junior Division and despite racing against older more experienced athletes, showing his potential by consistently being one of the first out of the water in every race.
Mitch Blackburn, Dane Burge and Kye Robinson competed in the Junior B division. All were consistently in the top 10, mixing it up with the best Juniors in the state.
Congratulations to all our young members who participated and gained these valuable experiences in triathlon.

Thank you to our members who got in contact and put themselves forward for a role as part of the Club's Committee. Even a small amount of help goes a big way in helping run the Club and get our events up and running.
There a still a number of positions vacant, so if you'd like to become involved with the Club's Committee drop a line to itc-committee@itc.org.au, or come have a chat at our next Club event.
For any of the more "technical" roles (I'm looking at you, Timing Officer) there is also training which we can provide to assist with getting you up to speed.
