Dear 4-H Families,
We hope this note finds you and your family well. South Carolina 4-H is excited about the New Year, and great learning opportunities/programs/connections coming up in 2021. We continue to monitor the pandemic through SCDHEC. We are optimistic about the future of in-person programming and encourage you to stay in contact with your county agents for virtual/in-person programming opportunities in the future. We also ask that you help your community to continue the fight against COVID by washing your hands, social distancing, and wearing a mask. This has been a challenging endeavor, but we are extremely proud of the connections 4-H agents made with youth and volunteers throughout this past year.
During this time, our agents have worked hard to innovate engaging hands-on activities for youth across our state and transformed clubs, camps, school enrichment, and short term interest programs into distance-learning programs that families could complete safely in their homes. As we look forward to returning to in-person programming, we celebrate all that has been accomplished this year and remain focused on our mission to help youth gain the knowledge and skills to be responsible, productive, and contributing members of society through a learn-by-doing approach. In the future months, we hope to advise you of our re-opening plans, but encourage you to take full advantage of our amazing distance-learning opportunities for now. Thank you for doing your part and helping us make the best better here in South Carolina.

During landing, the rover plunges through the thin Martian atmosphere, with the heat shield first, at a speed of over 12,000 mph. A parachute and powered descent slow the rover down to about 2 mph.
