COMMUNITY UPDATES: SMCS Spirit Gear Sales

Just a few days remain to snag some Saint Mary's branded swag, so be sure to check out all the fabulous color and style options on this flyer or click the image above to hop directly to our online shop. We love seeing our students and families sporting their #monarchpride at school and around town!

The next virtual Principal's Coffee will be held on Tuesday, February 23rd. Additional information on discussion topics and how to RSVP will be forthcoming via email from Mr. Hess. These sessions are great opportunities for parents to hear about what is happening at school and to ask general questions that may be of interest to other parents in our school community.

THIS WEEK'S BOOK SPOTLIGHT FROM MRS. LAVALLEE

The Legend of the Valentine: An Inspirational Story of Love and Reconciliation
by Katherine Grace Bond & Don Tate

Combining two major February celebrations, Valentine's Day and Black History Month, this book shares the tale of a young black boy during the 1960's who learns forgiveness and love from the inspiring story of St. Valentine.

>> Check out this beautiful book and many more from the SMCS Library!

Paul Reisler, our Artist in Virtual Residence, will be performing a LIVE concert via Zoom next Tuesday at 2pm. Tune in to hear the songs co-written by our grade 6 and 8 Middle School students! Limited "seats" are available for the LIVE performance, so a link to the recorded performance will also be made available at a later date.

Have you seen the back page of this week's Catholic Virginian? Not only is Amanda Gorman an incredible inspiration to our nation, she also shares in our Catholic Faith! You can read the feature online, produced by Catholic News Service, with insights and reflections by members of her parish.

PTO NEWS & EVENTS

Thank you to those who have already submitted their recipes for our Saint Mary's Community Cookbook!

We are asking that each Saint Mary's family, faculty and staff submit at least one recipe (up to three) that is loved by your family! This can be a recipe that has been passed down through your family, a favorite weeknight meal, a go-to cocktail or even a Thanksgiving side dish! We also welcome any photos of your recipe, your family cooking or pictures that you have taken at past Saint Mary's events showing gathering, eating and cooking (think Chili Cook-Off & Advent Brunch).

Please use this form to submit your family's recipe(s) plus any photos you may have or you may email them to pto.vicepresident@saintmary.org.

Please submit all recipes THIS WEEKEND!

We'd love to have your help! If you are interested in volunteering and have not already signed up, you may do so here.

💗 RESCHEDULED! 💗

It's never too late to celebrate Valentine's Day, so our PTO is still hosting a Pink & Red TAG Day next Tuesday, February 16th.

To participate in this TAG Day, dress in red and/or pink and please bring in $3.00! TAG Day rules apply.

*All TAG Day money will support the PTO's teacher appreciation efforts*

Saint Mary's PTO's first annual Brunswick Stew Fundraiser is coming up on February 27th & 28th!

Brunswick stew freezes well and is perfect for cold, rainy days or those nights when you just don't feel like cooking! Get quarts for your family & friends! Family Meals are also available for purchase.

Stew may be picked up warm on Saturday, February 27th, or refrigerated and ready for freezing or reheating on Sunday, February 28th. To pick up your order on Saturday or Sunday, please use the Marywood Lane entrance to enter the back parking lot of the school/church. Follow the signs! Pick up will be by the side Cafeteria/Gym/Middle School doors.

Brunswick Stew is selling fast - reserve yours here by Tuesday, February 23rd.

We are also in great need of volunteers for this event. The majority of volunteer opportunities are outside (fingers crossed for great weather!) and the PTO needs your help to make this exciting event happen. Please sign up here!
