Saturday at the Roundhouse

                                               February 13th

It is safe to return to the roundhouse! The jackhammers have been locked up and will not be used for any current projects.

4070
Welding work continues on the cab.  One person cannot work alone on the cab, so unless we have at least 2 people available we cant move forward. The jacks are waiting to be cleaned, drained and cycled. They will be needed to drop an axle on 4070.  Our draftsman will be coming to the Roundhouse in a few weeks to finalize drawings for the tender. When the weather breaks and space becomes available we will be looking to start fabrication in the Roundhouse.
The Drott
Over time, many of you have seen the dissembled frame of the Drott standing in the Roundhouse.  This 4 wheeled crane can be of enormous help in lifting in tight spaces like the Roundhouse stalls and doing track work.  All the parts are there, the motor and hydraulics have been rebuilt.  All we need are some volunteers with skills and time to reassemble this important piece of equipment.  This piece of equipment will be desperately needed for the restoration of 4070.

Tool Room

Last Saturday, a rented concrete saw was used to make cuts in the concrete pad.  During the week staff members were able to get virtually all of the pad removed and prepped for new concrete to be poured. The next step is to cut thru the cinder block wall so the black cabinets can be accessed from either side. Saturday we will need some volunteers to get the remaining shelving out of the way.  The bank of red parts bins can be moved to stall 1 and much of the other miscellaneous materials to the storage container. We will have to do some measuring to ensure clearance for fastener bins. They may have to be moved. Come in out of the cold and lend us a hand.

The America
Volunteers have been working during the week to clean the car, but the car still has a list of chores that needs to get done. Just time and effort needed there. Spring is not that far off and the America is a candidate for excursion service that hopefully will resume this year.

 Odds and Ends
Our lunch room has seen some major upgrades this past year, but still needs a new linoleum floor covering to help keep it clean. The material is on hand, we just need a volunteer with those skills.

RPCA
The RPCA Committee is looking for volunteers to help out.  A lot of work has been done but there is still plenty of work to do.   We have new artwork and graphic designs for the convention. Contact the office or any Board member if you are interested in being part of this endeavor in any way.

The roundhouse is a safe and compliant place to work and interface with others. Masks are required. Common areas are continually being sanitized for our safety.
