Increased remote consultation capacity on Sunday morning
PCS and GP Collaborative continue to work well together to identify ways of supporting the urgent primary care system within the City, making best use of limited resources. Given the recent increased demand for remote consultations and in turn the decrease in face-to-face appointments as a result, we have agreed to continue to support GPC in providing remote consultations using our resources.
On the morning of Sunday 14th of February, the session for the GP at Flowers will now be used to support telephone consultation of non COVID-19 patients that will be released from GP collaborative triage list. All other cold and hot appointments for the GP’s at Woodhouse , Flowers and Sloan hubs will continue as usual.

City Taxis offering up to £10k worth of journeys for patients to get to vaccination sites
City Taxis have very generously offered practices up to £10,000 worth of journeys for patients to get to network designation vaccination sites. This money is to ensure that the most vulnerable patients can get to vaccine sites.
The process of how to book these taxis is attached and as this is a finite resource we ask that you adhere to the criteria.
We are also working closely with the council who will also shortly have an offer of transport to ensure people are getting vaccinated.
For any questions please contact Sarah Chance.

PCS owned domiciliary-care company to be first in UK to use RESTORE2 tool
As part of the work PCS is doing to improve integration of health and social care services we will be piloting the use of the RESTORE2 trial with the care at our care services company, Intercare. The pilot will initially involve patients of two GP surgeries in the City.
Intercare will be the first domiciliary-care in the country to train its team to use the award-winning tool that helps identify signs of deterioration in clients, make clinical observations, and take appropriate action. The tool has, until now, only been used in care homes.
‘RESTORE2’ helps carers to identify physical deterioration in clients, and to take appropriate measures to escalate their care. It is designed to support social care professionals to:
- Recognise when a resident may be deteriorating, or at risk of physical deterioration
- Act appropriately according to the resident’s care plan to protect and manage the resident
- Obtain a complete set of physical observations to inform escalation and conversations with health professionals
- Speak with the most appropriate health professional in a timely way to get the right support
The aim is to give this team of dedicated care professionals the confidence to monitor their client whilst waiting for a GP to review the observations they are taking. It often reduces unnecessary escalation to primary or urgent care settings and has been proven to provide better outcomes for patients.

The variation between practices will be for a variety of reasons that cannot be assumed, we therefore encourage you to consider the population and local factors influencing variation between practices within your PCNs and are very happy to support those conversations if that is helpful

Limitation of the follow-up time for the fitting provider/practice for LARC complications. (Complete the survey)
We have had some feedback that the current contract for LARC fitting is not clear regarding who the responsibility falls upon for the follow-up of long term complications. To provide clarity for fitting practices, referring practices, and patients about responsibilities we are asking for your feedback, so we can come to a consensus decision regarding this ongoing issue. The closing date for this survey is Friday 19th February 2021.
