FAITH AND FELLOWSHIP

Stop in to the fellowship hall anytime between 12:00-8:00 PM on “Fat Tuesday” to stroll through our stations as we get ready for Lent! There will be something for all ages. This will be self-guided, so that all are able to stroll through in a safely-distanced way.

A few of the stations:

  • "Lent to Go” station--pick up your take-out church box, which will include a variety of things to help you and your family observe the Lenten season at home

  • Noisy Offering station-- drop your loose change in support of Habitat for Humanity, our monthly special offering ministry

  • Donation station--bring in household cleaning supplies and liquid dish soap to benefit Journey Home

  • Kids' station--this one is for all grade levels! There will be age-appropriate activity books for younger kids and a wreck it journal for teenagers to help them observe the Lenten season. There will also be a faith craft to be completed at home, along with a couple of other surprises!
Both services will be in-person (with masks and social distancing), livestreamed, and on-demand after the livestream. In-person worshippers will pick up both prepackaged Communion and ashes as they enter the sanctuary and impose ashes on themselves or their family members and Commune in the pews.
Beginning on February 21st, we will be returning to in person worship every Sunday at 8:30 am.  This traditional worship will be held in the sanctuary and can be heard on the radio on KSDN 930 AM and 102.1 FM.

With this change, we also are adding the opportunity for livestreaming all of our services.  This will allow anyone to view our services as they're happening live. The services will be broadcast on our Facebook page and YouTube channel. Recordings of the broadcasts will also be available after to be viewed at any time.
We are looking for one more person to join our sound board team for the 8:30 service. Adding an additional member will allow us to return to offering in-person worship every Sunday (training provided!). If you would like to volunteer for this once-a-month ministry opportunity, please contact Pastor Erin at 225-6755 or pastorerin@nvc.net.

Join Coffee with the Pastor
Women of all ages are invited to join Pastor Erin for Café Group. We’ll meet monthly to discuss the topics in the current issue of Café, (boldcafe.org), an online magazine written by young women across the ELCA. Feel free to check out the website, but there is no prep necessary for our gathering!

Because of our current pandemic concerns, the Zion Café group will start online over Zoom. But we hope to move to local restaurants and/or coffee shops in future months.

CROSS YOUR FINGERS! People usually don’t wish for a bunch of snow, but we are! The next time we have a good snowfall, we want to get congregational members of all ages together to go sledding.  Be watching our Facebook pages and Instagram for all the details after the next significant amount of snow.
Our next online Sunday School lesson will be on Sunday, February 21st at 9:45 AM. Click the button below to find all the materials needed to participate at home.  We have packets available in the church office with all of the supplies, as well.
Online Sunday School
Join Saundra for a story and activity from 5:30-5:50 PM in the Fellowship Hall. We’ll read a story and do an activity related to Lent/Easter before each Wednesday evening Lenten service, and we’ll finish in time for the service (and send the kids with an activity sheet to work on). Can’t make it by 5:30? No problem! Join us when you can. Open to pre-K – 5th grade kids.

HAVE A MIDDLE SCHOOL OR HIGH SCHOOL STUDENT?
We would love to have them work with the younger kids during this time.

Habitat for Humanity is a nonprofit organization that helps people in our community and around the world build or improve a place they can call homeThanks for your donations.
In conjunction with our Mardi Gras Stroll Through, we are collecting liquid dish soap and household cleaners to donate to Journey Home. Please bring your donations with you to the event; there will be a table available to leave donations on.
Our quilters are in need of sheets. They can be brand new or gently used. Please bring to the church office if you have any that you can donate. Thanks so much!

CONGREGATIONAL LIFE

JOIN THE ZION LUTHERAN FELLOWSHIP FACEBOOK GROUP

We have a new way of connecting with one another! All are invited to join our new Facebook group that’s designed to let us interact with one another throughout the week online. This private Facebook group will be for members and friends of our congregation. Our Zion Facebook page is a great “bulletin board” but this new group will be more of a virtual “living room”. Join us to get to know one another better, engage with each other in some fun ways, and share prayer requests.
