FUNDRAISING FAQ
The PTO has received some questions about why we continue to fundraise, especially since the school is not currently open. We would love to share a few things about what the fundraising goes towards:
Where does the fundraising money go?
All money collected by SHPTO goes directly to support Scholls Heights students and staff. There are 3 different different areas of support that the SHPTO provides:
1. Classroom Support and Principal Fund Every teacher is given a classroom fund based on the amount of students they have in class for the year. They are able to use those funds as they wish to support their classroom. The principal also receives their own fund to support their administrative staff and needs.
2. Community and Educational Enhancement
Community
In a normal school year, the SHPTO funds or supplements funding for events that happen at the school, for events like class parties, 5th grade send off, International Fair, Running Club, Family Dance, Movie nights, and more. Since those are not currently happening, our funds are focused elsewhere.
The SHPTO also provides monetary support for committees that do things for the school, such as: Green Team, Makerspace, Staff Appreciation, Hospitality, Community Support (like the food drive in December)
Educational
Over a fourth of all money raised goes directly to Educational enhancement, which includes: art literacy, field trips, Biz Town for 5th graders, Passport and the Science Fair.
If you're new to the school, you may not know about these events yet, but hopefully they will all be back in 2021-2022!
3. Grants
Anyone affiliated with Scholls Heights can request grants to improve our school and the students education. The grant application can be found on our website. Since the beginning of the year, we have approved four grants! Read more about the grants on the SHPTO website.
Where can I see the budget for the SHPTO?
You can check out our budget on our website. It is updated regularly by our Treasurer. If you have any questions, please reach out to treasurer@shpto.org directly.
How can I share my ideas/thoughts on the SHPTO budget?

Fun Run is right around the corner! Here are some important dates to remember:

The fun run can be completed on your own time during this week. Watch for your Fun Run chairs walking and running the Scholls Heights neighborhoods in their fun run shirt and rainbow tutus throughout that week.
Pictures! Please take photos of your student while they are participating in the Fun Run. Email them to shfunrunphotos@hotmail.com. We will create a class collage that will be shared during a virtual assembly
WALK AND ROLL
Join students and families for a wintery walk or roll in your neighborhood or at your favorite park on February 24th.
The following tips can help keep you safe and comfortable when walking and rolling:
Be Safe - Stay 6 feet away from those not in your household and wear a mask.
Be Seen - Wear bright, reflective clothing, use a bike light, and stay alert on dark, winter days.
Be Prepared - Dress for the weather. Rain gear and warm layers keep you dry and comfortable all season long.
