Hello <<First Name>>,
Naphthalene was found in the City of San Angelo water distribution system, along with acetone and benzene. Benzene is basically gasoline —a natural part of crude oil and gasoline (and also cigarette smoke).
The water distribution system’s contamination is sequestered to the northeast quadrant of the city’s water pipes now. At the press conferences yesterday, city officials talked extensively about check valves that customer connections have with the City water system.
The city suspects contamination of the water inside the water pipes came from a commercial or industrial entity and have two CSI investigators arriving today to investigate. CSI in this case does not stand for “Crime Scene Investigators,” but instead “Customer Service Investigators.” How 2021 of them.
So far, however, no one at the City or the TCEQ has mentioned a source of the contamination.
From watching the press conferences, I get the feeling that TCEQ folks in Austin are being sticklers on this issue. The City takes a test and the TCEQ demands they take heir own tests. So much testing. Meanwhile, while we await bureaucrats to over-test, no one can take a bath.
Erin Brockovich (subject of that movie that all of us olds remember) is on to it. She has been posting our stories to her Facebook page. She’s now onto the problem. Something out there is the source of the contamination, she agrees. Watch her page here.
If you watched the Super Bowl, you may recall the Jeep ad featuring Bruce Springsteen. It was the most tone deaf advertising in the history of Super Bowl ads. In the commercial Bruce, who is an outspoken leftist radical and Trump hater, consoles us about being a divided nation. While driving his Jeep around a Christian church in the middle of Nebraska, he extols us to come to the middle, where the church is.
“So, we can get there. We can make it to the mountaintop, through the desert, and we will cross this divide,” Springsteen said.
The church has a cross. Not all Americans headed for the middle are Christians. The map of the US excludes the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. Yoopers aren’t invited to the middle, I guess. Juxtaposed on the wooden incomplete map is a single star, the symbol of the CCP or North Korea.
Above: Jeep ad: Map of US with the UP removed and the CCP star in the middle.
Now we learn that Springsteen is a drunk driver last November. According to the WSJ:
“According to court documents released Thursday, Mr. Springsteen was charged with driving while intoxicated on Nov. 14 after a law-enforcement officer saw him take a shot of tequila and start his motorcycle’s engine.
“The officer told Mr. Springsteen that alcohol consumption was prohibited where he was—Sandy Hook, N.J., an area that includes a lighthouse and beaches. During a field sobriety test, Mr. Springsteen “took 45 total steps during the walk and turn instead of the instructed 18,” according to a statement of probable cause, which also said he smelled strongly of alcohol “and had glassy eyes.” The rock star wouldn’t submit to a preliminary breath test,” The WSJ reported yesterday.
Drunk commercial star or not, the ad has already boiled my blood because of the CCP star. I'll continue to drive a Ford.

“Crisis upon crisis”: Industrial pollutants leave San Angelo residents without water as winter storm bears down. “Crisis upon crisis”: Industrial pollutants leave San Angelo residents without water as winter storm bears down. "The cause of the contamination is still under investigation. But, according to city and state officials, the source is likely an industrial company connected to the water system. Water may have flowed into an industrial plant, came into contact with dangerous chemicals there, lost pressure, and flowed back out into the system where it infiltrated nearby homes." Oil's rebound is draining storage tanks across the Americas. "Oil storage locations across the Americas are emptying as the remarkable rally in crude prices undermines the need to buy and stockpile barrels. Tank owners were one of the few benefactors from last year’s collapse that spurred traders to buy crude cheap, store it, and then sell into a rally. Now that the market has shifted to the point at which prompt delivery is priced higher than later-dated contracts, storage has become unprofitable. Gulf Coast terminal operators are offering to lease tanks at less than half the rate at the height of the storage boom in 2020." More at Shelton Herald.
In Waco, the Jury Trial will Return! "Returning once again to the stage of Judge Alan Albright’s patent case in the US District Court for the Western District of Texas: In January, a second mandamus petition was unsuccessful in the US District Court for the Federal Circuit, notwithstanding its similarity to the first mandamus petition, which was successful. Thus, the stage was set for a patent trial in Waco, which will begin Monday. Yesterday, Judge Albright issued an order setting COVID-19 procedures for the trial. These include: Before voir dire, jurors will be given N95 masks and face shields, and they will be instructed to wear both throughout voir dire, except they may remove the masks when answering questions. (and 15 more procedures, including CV testing.)" More at Lexology.
Texas Tech announces 2021 football schedule. "The Texas Tech football team will play five of its first six games in the state of Texas and will not leave the Lone Star State during the month of November as part of its 2021 football schedule that was released Thursday by the Big 12 Conference office. The Red Raiders will only leave the state to travel to West Virginia on Oct. 2 through the first half of the schedule. In between, Tech will play in Houston for the Texas Kickoff on Sept. 4 and then the state capital in Austin for its Big 12 opener against Texas on Sept. 25." More at Midland Reporter-Telegram.

Migrants in “remain in Mexico” program will soon be allowed to enter the United States, federal agency says. "Tens of thousands of asylum seekers who have been forced to wait in Mexico under a Trump-era immigration policy will soon be able to enter the United States to pursue their cases, the Biden administration announced Friday. Launched by the Trump administration, the Migrant Protection Protocols forced asylum seekers to wait in Mexico border towns for their hearings in American courtrooms. The Department of Homeland Security said in a statement that about 25,000 migrants in the program have active cases. More than 70,000 migrants have been placed into the program since it was announced in late 2018, including more than 20,000 in the El Paso-Ciudad Juárez area. Officials in Mexico have said that many migrants have since gone back home or decided to cross illegally instead of waiting. The DHS advised asylum seekers in the program to remain where they are for now while a virtual registration process is rolled out next week. Once they’ve registered, the migrants will be told where to go, the DHS statement says. Asylum seekers will be tested for COVID-19 before being allowed to cross the border." More at Texas Tribune.

Gov. Greg Abbott prioritized changing how bail is set. He isn’t addressing people stuck behind bars because they can’t afford to pay. "In his State of the State address, Abbott said lawmakers must fix the bail system “that recklessly allows dangerous criminals back out onto our streets.” The governor wants more training for judicial officers who largely make cash bail decisions and a tool for assessing a defendant’s risks of missing court dates and endangering the community. Those goals are expected to be addressed in the not-yet-filed Damon Allen Act, named after a state trooper killed during a traffic stop while the suspect was out on bond. Abbott has repeatedly affirmed that the emergency legislation would not specifically address what criminal justice experts call bail reform: halting the discriminatory jailing of poor people that repeatedly has landed Texas counties in federal court. He said he will consider such measures in other bills, but those efforts are not deemed a priority. “We’re going to separate the Damon Allen Act and what I’m expecting from bail reform there,” Abbott told The Texas Tribune. “Separate from that, I told [lawmakers] that I am open to considering other bail reform issues so that we don’t basically have a prison for the poor who don’t have the ability to get bailed out for petty crimes where they pose no danger to our communities.” More at Texas Tribune.
A racist slur, a groundbreaking coming out and country music's future hanging in the balance. "Behind closed doors this week, discussions about Wallen have dominated Zoom meetings, calls and group chats as managers and publicists had urgent conversations with their singers. Industry staffers, songwriters and artists, most of whom declined to speak publicly, described a "monumental day" as they watched the Wallen story unfold. "To see it all happen, the reason it happened, I think it was a shock wave in Nashville," said Leslie Fram, CMT's senior vice president of music strategy. There was surprise at the quick consequences for the singer - who has consistently escaped repercussions for misbehavior - and particularly the immediate removal of his music from radio. (Some saw the news Tuesday and assumed it would be shrugged off.) There was also sadness over how the incident confirms stereotypes about country music being uneducated and intolerant. Embarrassment about how this reflects on the format and the persistent lack of diversity. Fear over what other stories might be lurking out there. And, of course, skepticism over whether anything will actually change in a genre that resists it at every turn." More at Chron.com.
Soaring lumber costs hammer D-FW homebuilders. "Homebuilders who are scrambling to meet a swell of buyer demand are hitting a wall. Prices of lumber and other wood products have soared in recent months, eating away at their profits and causing a further rise in new home prices. Builders and industry analysts say that costs of some building materials have doubled and tripled from a year ago, thanks to increased demand and supply constraints. “Lumber is in flux so much right now it may cost you an extra $50,000 to build a house,” Dallas homebuilder Jeff Dworkin said. “A 2-by-10 framing piece that cost me five bucks a year ago is now costing me over $10.” Dworkin said the lumber framing on his latest house in Lake Highlands is costing him 80% more than a similar home he just sold in East Dallas. “We are trying to lock in our lumber prices for 30 to 60 days, and we are lucky to get that,” he said. “Typically this time of year lumber costs come down because the cold weather slows down construction. “But we have yet to see that.”" More at DallasNews.com.

Priorities of the DNC
Bet they will have clean water too.
Steady increase.
There is a steady increase simply because Biden was elected.
Hmmm,
This is your water with a republican government running everything, all I should have to say.
What a surprise
Wish SAL! would quit interviewing Tim Condon for their stories. The man is a menace to the community and makes everything into a conspiracy theory targeting him. The city tells him the water isn't safe, and he fires back that he can operate without city water! (Except for dishwashing, which needs tap water... CITY WATER... and dishwashing is ESSENTIAL in a restaurant. Sheesh, dude.) Why is he the local businessowner who always gets his name in your publications? Try someone else for once. Someone who cares about their community, perhaps?
I noticed
Since I live close to the "yeehaw arena" I noticed that most of these cowboys and girls AINT social distancing or wearing masks. Maybe they're immune?
unfortunate
unfortunately for ltologist, fed up, and the others, said new site link will never have time to be set up once we have finished with that horrendous page.
Biden
A father trying to protect his son and also fend off any political heat by denying their guilt. Sound familiar, Joe and Hunter come to mind. However, most of the media kept that story as quiet as possible. Funny how that works.
Yes, people stormed the capitol. A low life hit an officer with a fire extinguisher, killed him and he should be executed for that. The FBI is pulling out all stops to hunt all these people down.
Where was all this drive for justice when antifa was rioting, burning down citizen's businesses, involved in massive looting, fire bombing police while chanting death to pigs, killing people who would stand against them, in general destroying lives and doing all this over a period of months and in several cities. There isn't much news about them being hunted down. Of course the media and the left proclaimed these as peaceful protests. Again, funny how that works.
that's what she said...
She said Is that a 450 Bushmaster rifle in your pants or are you just glad to see me?

What a fraud.
So she's paid for a trip to the Mexican Riviera for her staff and (I believe) their spouses. Which is no doubt refundable due to Covid (almost all travel is refundable these days).
She had the money to take a trip to Washington DC to tramp the halls of Congress and brag about her exploits multiple times on Facebook.
But needs an online fundraiser to pay for her lawyer? Thank God she's only raised a few hundred dollars. Looks like lots of people see right through this entitled woman and her schemes.
And, yes, the judge should deny her request for international travel.

As if! Unfortunately demo libs are fully indoctrinated in Marxist ideology, and therefore will never admit their mistake no matter how harmful the policies. Used to be democrats were concerned about our loss of freedom/rights but no more!

Great,
Now the city will spend all that money on the roads and other infrastructure that this city badly needs, right? Right?
Absolutely Correct
I have never seen anyone move with such speed to ruin a nation. I hope Dem voters are ruined first!
75 million Trump voters…
75 million Trump voters would disagree. Which “ruinous policies” are those? And please be specific...not just that you didn’t like him personally or that he tweeted something that hurt your feelings ;)
Interesting
I haven't heard if Dr. Kingman is running again but I do look forward to the campaign if he does run for re-election. Should make for an interesting debate and display of grit to challenge him. Actually, I like it, waiting to see if there are more challenges to the board.

Guessing reading comprehension is not your strong suit. Not once have l attempted to justify the illegal acts at the Capital...in fact I said all along it was wrong.
You, on the other hand, have never ONCE said the same thing when it comes to the months long BLM/Antifa riots.
Not trying to deflect blame…
Not trying to deflect blame. Just pointing out if there would have been a greater police presence, both at the Capital and during the months long BLM/Antifa riots, a lot of what happened could have been avoided.
Also stop with the “terrorist” bs all that does is prove how truly foolish you are ;)
How ironic
A tree hugger with hula hoops in her ears is repping this terrorist organization in San Angelo. Even more ironic they've been nominated for a peace prize after MONTHS of burning down their own cities! WHAT A DISGRACE. Even reporting on it as anything different is disgraceful!

Hmmm,
"After he was interviewed by police, Harter admitted to posting the video."
NEVER talk to police.
Well,
NEVER talk to police.
Well,
It will take some time to undo trump's terrible job at handling the pandemic. There are millions of unaccounted for vaccines for instance. The terrorist republicans just can't seem to do anything right.
https://truthout.org/articles/trumps-vaccine-distribution-plan-has-left-millions-of-doses-unaccounted-for/
Hmmm,
So the terrorist republicans attempt (and fail, like always) to overthrow the government and install a dictator, of which there is no argument ( everyone there was waving trump flags and had red hats on/ "stop the steal".) And you blame someone else for not stopping it quick enough? What a fantasy world you live in. So if Someone is murdering someone and the police don't respond fast enough because they are on another call, the murderer should get off scott free? You republican terrorists are more delusional then I thought.
Hmmm,
Working out very well actually. Protecting the environment from this kind of thing should be a very high priority. The only people griping are rich oil people anyway.
