Multi Best In Show, Multi Best In Specialty Show Canadian Grand Champion Excellent & American Grand Champion Bronze
Shines Call The Winning Shot With Tzo Wen N Xinjin
Periwrinkles Chinese Shar-Pei are extremely proud of Shine’s Call The Winning Shot with TzoWen N XinJin!
🎱 was bred by Rebecca Pentecost DVM with purpose and intention. Even though 🎱 was a singleton, from the first few weeks of her life we knew she was very special! The first time she stepped into the show ring at 3 1/2 months it was clear we were right.
🎱 has been awarded to date:
7 Best Baby Puppy in Shows
10 Best Puppy in Shows
9 Canadian Best In Shows
9 Reserve Best in Shows
68 Canadian Group 1 placements
Highest points in the breed in Canadian history
1 American Best in Show
Multi Group Firsts
Multi Best in Specialty Shows
Chinese Shar-Pei Club of America‘s Top 25 Winner
🎱 has won multiple BISS including the Chinese Shar-Pei Club of Canada National Specialty
🎱 is most winningest black Shar-Pei in the history of the breed.
We are so proud of all of her accomplishments in Canada and the USA, under breeder judges and all rounder judges. Her breed type, balance, coat texture, pigment, soundness and femininity are truly the essence of what makes a beautiful Shar-Pei.
She is the whole package!!! Her incredible success is the icing on the cake, she has been awarded so highly whether in the ring with with her owners or her professional handler on the end of her lead.
Last year she gave the gift of her beautiful son Periwrinkles The Winning Combo with TzoWen N XinJin. "Cueball"
We had a dream when we bred her of what we wanted in puppies, and even though he is also a singleton we definitely got everything we wanted. 🎱 loves the show ring, if we cheer her from the sidelines she loves it even more!
We look forward to seeing everybody soon!
All our dogs are handled exquisitely by Hailey Griffith.

Question of the week...
To date, there are no premium lists for shows anywhere in Canada.
When the Canadian shows finally begin. Will you have any 6 – 12 month puppies, or will they have aged out of the puppy classes?
Stephanie Bajona
I'll be interested in seeing a lot of mature open class dogs because of this. I feel too many dog's finish before they are mature and usually we never see them again, because they have developed different than what was intended.
I'm also curious to know if we will have larger entries because we will be playing catch-up with all the litters produced during the pandemic.
Earl Liverance
Our puppies will have all aged out of the puppy classes. Depending on when we see the first show, we might have one left to show as a puppy.
Lisa Jowett
Most aged out, that I probably won’t even show at this point. One young one that I might show, if there are any outdoor shows this year.
Donna Hawkins
One of mine was in the ring twice for baby puppy, by the time a show happens she won’t even make it into the 12-18 month class
I did not attend the few that were held in the second half of 2020 in Ontario, as I had a litter on the ground. I have 2 four and a half month old puppies currently, so I guess we see what happens with them.
Candy Beauchamp
Mine will be in Open by the time we start showing again....
Amanda Gomes
My puppy is 15 weeks old right now. So yes, I’ll have a puppy to show this season when we get some shows.
Allison Hadaway
I have one that has already aged out, and one that most likely will before the shows start again.
Tiffany Shaw
Unfortunately, they have aged out.
Darrin Burke
Aged out for puppy. I will be lucky if it can show in the 12-18month. May end up starting out in the Open class.
Bruce Ham
Mine has aged out of puppy and still not been to a real show.
Sherri Trithart
They will be in the puppy classes, if we ever get to attend a show this year!
Brittany Carella
Our puppies will be 6 months in June. So…Maybe!
Wyndance Labrador Retrievers
If there are shows before June, yes. If not, no.
Natalie Garrett
I have one to show as a puppy, as long as we get shows this year.
Isabelle Ringuet
Mine will be aged out. It was supposed to start his showing career in April 2020 at 7 months of age.
Rhonda Holloway
If there is a show in April, we are still good with one puppy.
Chris Hodges
I will have a puppy!
Craig Keeling
We have one that has missed out on the puppy classes, and another that is ready now.
Brian Lucas
Aged out for puppy.
Kaitlin Glass
Aged out.
Kristina Denise
Aged out!
Jennifer Ouellette
Aged out.
Tanya Hatton
Ours will be aged out for puppy.
Janice Kivimaki
Yes, we will have a few!!
Jerrica Coady
I have Opens, and 12-18’s, and maybe one 9-12. Maybe.
Phyllis McCullum
They've aged out.
Lori Magee
I will have puppies.
Lisa Mayes
Just had one age out, so I will show in Open.
Joanna Parker-Ross
Baby Puppy, and Open.
Pamela Smith
We’ll have all ages I’m sure by the first shows.
Cheryl Doucette
I believe I might have entries in all 3 puppy levels and one open.
Karen Henley
I have puppies to show.
Juliana du Pree
I had a bitch that was about to have her first show when Covid shut everything down. She will likely be close to 2 by the time she's able to make it into the ring. A younger bitch was born in May of last year and will have aged out by the time things open again. Hopefully everyone is understanding of these older, but inexperienced dogs when they do have their day!
Shannon Breau
Aged Out.
Holi Murphy Kaiser
Mine aged out as well. Hasn’t seen the show ring since baby puppy.
Deborah Glassman
Hope so! Waiting for Mom to come in season. Dad is in the freezer.
Natasha McKillop
Same aged out, this is the first dog I’ve had in a while that I haven’t finished as a puppy (and IMHO she’s far better than anything I’ve had previously). Hopefully judges will be understanding.
Joanne Matheson
Expect mine will be in the veteran’s class
Jackie Dooley-Power
Yes, veteran’s class at this rate!
Justine Scott
I have a puppy to show.
Bett Nielsen
My 7 month old puppy had her first show last March 9th weekend. LOL, I hope I will be able to show her in the 12-18 month class for her second show.
Daegan Pickylk
Mine will be an open class dog. He is pointed toward his Championship as a puppy in 2019, and hasn’t seen the ring since then. Should be interesting our first few times out....
I hope the judges are understanding!!
Sue Crawford
Last time out 6 to 9 month class. Now will be Open.
Lori Adams
I’ve got a baby to show at the moment. Depending on if/when shows happen he could be 6 months by then. I’ve also got 1 or 2 for Open.
Kaila Watters
My guy is just about to age out (April) and we didn’t make it to one show last summer, due to everything being canceled.
Stephanie Horan
I bred a litter last summer, which I rarely do as I'm usually travelling to shows a lot and plan my litters for the late fall/winter/early spring when we're home. The puppy I kept is now 7 months. I have a litter on the way who will be 6 months in August if I keep a puppy. But I rarely show Puli puppies anyway as their coats are often a bit scruffy as the cords are developing and many judges don't appreciate the unmade bed look! I do have four dogs aged 3-5 years-old who have barely seen a showring thanks to my concentrating on specials and American shows for the two years prior to COVID, so I'll have a ring full of wide-eyed novices as soon as we can get back in the ring!
Shyanne Polley
I will have puppies
Patrick McLean
I will have puppies.
Karen Doughty
My puppies will (thankfully) still fall into that puppy age range.
Caroline Thibodeau
Aged out. My puppy missed his entire puppy career.
Kristy Parameter
Aged out unfortunately he’s 11 months now and I doubt we’ll have a show in the next month. I’d like to hope we will...
Florin Niculescu
there will be many more good dogs in the Open class than those in the Champion class probably.
CJ Dyment
Aged out, and unfortunately, he'll be in the teenager uglies for Great Pyrenees. We will still have to get him out to get him used to the shows. I joke with my mom that by the time we're able to cross the border for the USA he'll be mature.
Sandy Alexander
Ours have aged out of puppy they will be two before they are shown. They were just old enough to show, when Covid closed everything down.
Honey Glendinning
One positive, the nice thing is classes might just be full again.
Barbara Shelby
I will have 2 dogs to show one will be 12-18 one 6-9. The others I ended up selling them as Shelties need to be socialized.
Victoria Thomas
I’m hoping they won’t be aged out of veterans!! Lol
Linda Halliday
I will have one that's never been in the ring as a puppy, and won't even be in the 12-18 month age group, when we get back to shows in British Columbia.
Linda Smith
I got to show my Papillon in Baby puppy in Brandon last February, and she won a BBPIS her next show she will be eligible for, she will be in OPEN class.
Christina Rozema
One aged out and one still in. Come on shows!
Shawn Mealey
My boy has aged out, but I have an up and coming girl for puppy classes
Judee Valero
3 in the 12-18 month class, that need 1 point, 1 point and 3 points to finish...Can't wait for a show to open...BUT, then the stress of it filling up in 4-5 minutes if it is a limited show!!!
Pat Blenkey
Aged out, but hopefully something in our future.
Amanda MacLeod
I have a puppy that will be 6 months old first weekend in April. He was supposed to be old enough for our national by less than a week but it’s postponed for a year.
Jessica Kennedy
I have my first bred by puppy, that would still in in the 6-12 month class all summer. My young male I imported, he has missed being able to show much as a puppy. But thankfully did get a couple in.
Lu-Anne Clark
I have one turning 6 months in a week. I hated to miss baby puppy. Such a good learning experience. No classes either, for socialization.
Debi Noonan
Aged out by April.
Krystal Mason
All of the puppies bred to be shown in 2020 have aged out.
Shawn Nichols
Aged out, unless Battle River in Alberta has a show in April.
Jennifer Remazki
I have some puppies coming up the pipes, and one who has aged out.
Karen Spisak
I have puppies born Dec 28th so hopefully we can participate in baby puppy April-June and puppy over the summer. These are my first Bred By puppies. May the pandemic Gods smile on us and go far away soon.
Virginia Lyne
2 puppies aged out. One has dropped all her beautiful puppy hair.
Chuck Lamers
I have a beautiful bitch puppy born March 17 2020. Will age out and not a single dog show experience.
Aged out!
Pat & David Gignac
We still have competitive puppies, but depending on when there will be shows. I (Pat) may be getting close to aging out!!!
Debbie Charneski
I will have some aged out, but some new ones. HOPEFULLY, there will be a show that I will get to show at least 1 puppy at this year. (fingers crossed)
Julia Byrnes
I am actively breeding. I have 3 puppies right now and more litters on the way, which will hopefully have more keepers. I have show/breeding homes that I am getting setup with foundation dogs. We will be ready when there are finally shows to go to. I am not holding my breath for shows before 2022.
Karen Day
While my puppies aged out mere days before shows shut down (way to slaughter a career - go BIS Friday, shows end Sunday).
I do still have one that needs just a few points to finish. However, she will have aged out of even the 12-18 class.
Like others, I am taking advantage of this down time to breed a couple of litters. I usually only keep bitches, so this means I don't breed them until older as they are being shown. I'm going to actually have a litter from a younger bitch this year!
I have a sneaking suspicion that when those puppy’s debut, their parents will be their class competition
Shaunna McLauchlan
I have 2 puppies from separate litters, one was ready for the first spring show - just as it was cancelled. The other has aged out as of the beginning of January this year, so no puppy shows - and I love showing puppies!!!
Candace Gaudreau
I had one turn six months Jan 2020 never stepped foot in a ring (actually had a half-brother and placed him because well without any titles kind of pointless to keep him around as a stud dog. One who will turn a year Feb 22, 2021.
Honestly. Not even sure I’ll bother returning to shows. Life’s been pretty quiet without worrying about shows etc. May send the boy out for his championship but that’s about it, but likely I will venture into different venues.
Carol Garvin
Just one dog in the household now, and he's gone from puppyhood into adolescence without a show. At this point I doubt I'll return to the shows, except perhaps as a spectator.
David Clarke
It isn’t all bad... having more mature dogs competing and being able to see beyond the puppy fluff and cuteness might not be a bad thing for our breeds?
That said, I have some lovely young ladies who missed the puppy fun who will come out as Opens, (should be an exciting class to watch should stuff really open up ... and now I have a couple of babies born end of November that might see a ring as puppies if shows open up out this way.
Danita Gilmour
I have one who turns 1 on March 23rd. In other word’s nope.
Lana Campbell
I have 3 aged out last year and some new puppies coming out that may see a show as a puppy if we have some outdoor shows this summer. The good thing is there will be lots of class competition!
Larisa Hotchin
I have a 20 month old that's never seen a show - pretty bummed about that. I do have some puppies that might see a show this summer, still as a puppy.
Holly Robinson
I have a 20 month old that's never seen a show - pretty bummed about that. I do have some puppies that might see a show this summer, still as a puppy.
Lynne Mulder
I have a beautiful import who arrived in Canada just prior to Covid. We attended one show and shelved our plans as I then watched them age out of the puppy classes. Along with that is the never-ending struggle with the CKC, as I have STILL, after 16 months, not been able to get them registered.
Tina Gaudet
Most likely aged out, we had a litter last May that we hoped to show before they were adults. Not sure if there will be any outdoor shows in Alberta in early May.
Annette Dionne
The 2 girls I kept from my frozen litter in May will be Aged out... but, we hope the shows will be back for the singleton to attend as a puppy.
Gabrielle Kateri
Aged out. By the time shows hopefully start up I'll have a 18 month and a 2 year old. 2 year old hit one show as baby puppy and one show as puppy where he got 2 points. Those of us with coated breeds are very ready!
Lonna Fisher
Sadly, I hope for a show this summer ...... not a "show and go" but an old-fashioned Dog Show like 2019 ......... But I do not think there will be any regular shows for a couple of years yet. Canada is waiting for a vaccine to be developed in a building that has not been built yet, so I do not think it will be this year. Sadly, for us older breeders it is a question as to how long can we wait?
Michelle Chisholm
I have some that aged put and new ones ready to go in May.
Karena Miller
My January 2020 litter will be 18 months old by summer. One will have completed his health testing and may be used at stud before ever seeing the ring it seems. So, messed up...
Claudine Hamilton
I'll have one puppy, (IF we have show’s before August) and one class girl who aged out

Behind The Scene With...
Name: Emily Burdon
Where You Live: Saint Lazare, QC
Breed: Owned by a Border Terrier, Staffordshire Bull Terrier, and German Shepherds.
Professional Handler CPHA
1) Through the years the purebred dog fancy has changed greatly, what do you miss the most?
Being involved in showing dogs my whole life, I’ve certainly had the honor of experiencing many ups and downs of our sport & passion. Most recently, of course we’ve all experienced great change. In general, I miss the certainty of shows...but I miss the quantity of dogs being shown in many breeds to open our eyes to what’s out there. This is what I enjoy the most about attending shows all over the world...Competition is a good thing!! Also, the fact that Junior handling used to take all of lunch time and then some to complete!!! Miss those days...
2) If you could give your 20-year old self… Advice today, what would it be?
Some things that we would think are impossible. Are possible. Anything’s possible, and to never give up.
3) What makes the difference between a good dog and a great dog to you?
There are many good dogs. To me what makes a good dog great is the bond it has with its handler and owner (of course)! A great dog is one that enjoys what it does and is in the best condition possible.
4) In 2020 we saw fewer shows with all the cancellations, those shows that did go on saw larger entries in many breeds. Would fewer shows be better for the purebred dog fancy?
I think it would be. This past year has proven this. If there are less options the people will come. Also, it makes more competition in the classes as dogs wouldn’t be so easily finished with more competition... However, on the other hand this might discourage some people... But I hope not.
I know I’m tired of multiple limited shows. First of all, the stress of entering, and it’s just a lot in one weekend for some shows.
I believe for the future we could limit the number of limited shows as clubs would no question reach (and exceed) their limited show numbers for entries. Time will tell...
5) If you could give all clubs one piece of advice from an exhibitor or judges point of view, what would it be?
Push through.... You’ll never make everyone happy. But, our passion needs you. We also need to try to involve the younger generation to volunteer and be involved in the clubs to help out and see how things are done!
6) Name two dog people you would like to pair on Dancing with the stars?
Juan Miranda & Pam Bruce
7) Should more attention be paid by exhibitors and judges on proper breed presentation and breed exams in the ring?
Yes! To master and truly know all the breeds is not an easy or even possible task. But attending shows in the USA and worldwide really does open your eyes on the different breed presentation, also watching specialties, you’ll notice more of the breed specific things in judging & presentation. Refreshing our memories in breed standards is also something I do a lot!
8) What has been your favorite series, movie or book, you have enjoyed through Covid time spent at home?
